Just when things are looking calm and relaxed – Enter. Mother. Nature! I put up a good fight and while we both walked away from the encounter, I can’t help but think that Mother Nature won this one!
Author Journey (August 14, 2023)
On Thursday, it rained. It rained a lot in a very short period of time and the city storm drains could not keep up. So, without anywhere to go the water gathered and gathered and gathered. It then found a way… several ways into my basement… I utilized my handheld sump pump, a hundred towels, and a lot of expletives. It’s worth remembering my office is in the basement so there was scramble to save electronics, manga, and sketchbooks. Basically, everything from Thursday on is a blur of water, sewage, and destruction.

Anime Goal – 12 Episodes
The latest Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead was delayed so I still haven’t gotten around to watching it, however, I did fir in Mushoku Tensei II: Jobless Reincarnation as usual. On top of that, I finished the second season of Birdie Wing and then went off plan as I started rewatching Overlord in preparation for the fourth season. I ended up watching 11 episodes in two nights and then the rain came…
Manga Goal – 3 Volumes
On top of the battle with Mother Nature, it was the busiest week of the month at work and everything that could go wrong did. People working upstream of me changed their reports so that my stuff wouldn’t work. Anyhow, I managed to read just one book and return it as there are fifty-two people waiting for it… It’s going to be tricky getting hold of the next volume. So, I only managed to read one book and then the rain came…
Posting Goal – 7 Posts
I only managed to write up 5 posts last week which isn’t terrible as I have a nice buffer, and given the way the world turned on me I’m fine with that. All right, fine might not be how I’m feeling but I’m still here despite having the climb a ladder in the rain to pull debris out of a gutter before it could cause more damage.
Writing Goal – 3.5k Words
So, I got nothing as you might imagine. However, I did get an idea to expand a short story I wrote a while back. Then, I went onto my Google docs and found my old ideas document and added it in. Then, I read the old ideas and realized I have so many stories that need to be written. I think I’ll need to change my schedule so that I write first and everything else comes after that.
Drawing Goal – Play Around With Tablet
It was another productive week with the tablet. I was sketching bodies and faces. Generally getting familiar with the software and the pencil. Of course, that all got put on hold when the rain came…

Aspirations for the Week!
Here’s what I said in my last post about my aspirations for last week!
“I’m going to lose a day because of the public holiday and then only one of my kids is going to camp next week so I’m going to have plenty of distractions as well as the busiest week of the period at the day job. That said, I don’t think it’ll impact me too much… Famous last words!”
I guess I brought this all upon myself! Anyhow, this week is going to be very different. I’m on my way to a remote part of Northern Ontario where there is very limited internet… possibly none. I have my tablet and I’ve downloaded a bunch of things to watch so I’ll see what I can get through.
Watching Anime
I have no idea how this week will go. As such, I am making zero plans this week. I have shows downloaded, but I don’t know if I’ll have the time to watch them. I’m definitely not going to watch Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead or Mushoku Tensei II: Jobless Reincarnation so I’ll do a big catch up when I’m home in two weeks time.

Reading Manga
It’s the same thing here. I have a couple of digital manga volumes downloaded so I’ll see what I can get through.

Posts Scheduled
Again, no plans here. I have scheduled some bonus posts for the days when Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead and Mushoku Tensei II: Jobless Reincarnation posts would have gone live normally so I don’t need to do any. Hopefully, I’ll have enough internet to write up a post for next Monday, but that also might not happen.

Writing
I would love to get some writing done here and may try. Writing on the tablet isn’t quite as smooth so I may end up working on some outlines for the story ideas I found. Want to keep things moving somehow.

And finally, I have my tablet and my pencil and without internet this may become my most productive avenue. It’ll all come down to how much time I end up having to myself which may be very limited.

Final Thoughts
So, I am facing a possible two weeks without internet and I’m not sure how I feel about it. It may be nice to disconnect for a while, but at the same time I do so many things via the internet that it’s an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I’ll be able to report back on how it’s gone next week, but it’s also possible that you don’t hear from me for two weeks. Either way, I’ll be back! Thanks for reading.
Sorry to hear about the flooding! I hope that you were able to get everything dried out. Mold is a horrible thing.
It’s disheartening how easily it seems like something like that can upend one’s life — how quickly, too.

Thanks. Time away is going all right. Found some wild internet so all’s good on that front.
Spending a bit of time going over just how much stuff has been ruined by the water/sewage and it’s a little crazy.
It’s going to take a while to get it all reorganized when we get back and not least somewhere I can use as my home office while it’s all being sorted.
We are surprisingly helpless when Mother Nature decides to act.
Still, I’ve got a bit of reading in to help clear my mind.
LOL! When I read “handheld sump pump, a hundred towels, and a lot of expletives” I read the last word as “explosives.”
If I had had some explosives I bet we’ll may have used them. I was just watching water pour into the basement around me with no way to combat all of it. I dropped a lot of F-bombs that’s for sure.
