Author Journey (July 8, 2024)

2024 07 08 The Otaku Author Journey

I have been working nonstop in an attempt to get everything ready for my extended break. There have been late nights, early mornings, and countless moments in between, but after four weeks of grinding, I can finally reveal…

Author Journey (July 8, 2024)

Favourite Moment!

… I did it! It was a lot of work, but I managed to get all of my posts scheduled for the next four weeks, including this one, as I’m actually writing it on Friday night (although it’s technically Saturday morning now, but whatever!) Back at the beginning of June, I had twenty-six posts to schedule for July plus twenty-seven for June. Since then, I have written and scheduled fifty-five posts. I felt like I could do it back then, but it’s still surprising to see that I managed it. That means I can relax for the rest of July and the beginning of August without any worries. I’m still going to do my weekly Author Journey post, but they will be a little shorter than normal as I won’t be keeping my regular schedule and all goals are on hold until I’m back.

So, what will I be doing? Well, I’ll keep you updated every week, but right now, when this post goes live, I’ll be in Paris, France. It’s just a stop on our way back to England to see the family, but we’re taking the chance to show the kids a little bit of Europe. It should be a lot of fun and I look forward to reporting back next Monday.

Writing!

No writing, as expected. There’s a chance I will have done some plotting on the plane from Canada to France, but that is the future as I write this, so I can’t really say for sure. That’s the problem with scheduling these posts and why I’ll be still doing them weekly.

Anime!

I was focused solely on watching the episodes that I needed for my July posts and I am pleased to say that I watched them all. Again, I might have watched more on the plane. It’s a fairly long flight so it seems possible, although that will depend on the kids sleeping and me staying awake after weeks of reduced sleep!

    Manga!

It was the first week this year that I didn’t read any manga! I had done all of my manga posts so there really wasn’t any need for me to read any, plus time was at a premium. On the reading front, I did buy the first two ebooks of the Mushoku Tensei light novels for the trip, so there’s a chance I’m already some chapters in. There are twenty-six volumes so now I need to try to read them all before season three airs, whenever that’ll be.

    Aspirations for the week!

I have absolutely no aspirations for this week other than to enjoy myself in Europe, visiting family and friends. I’m sure I’ll find time to watch anime, read manga and light novels, maybe draw a little, and think about my novels, but I have no plans to keep up with and no posts that require my attention. It’s a nice feeling to have and I’m looking forward to enjoying it to the max. Once I’m back, I will likely continue in this manner where I will keep things a month ahead so that I’m not as pressed for time. That said, these last four or five weeks have been frantic, but then preparing for a big trip like this certainly added a lot of stress and pressure.

For now, I’m just going to focus on enjoying myself. Normally, I’d say I had to hustle, but not this week. It’s been a while since I had a long break like this. So, thanks for reading. I’ll be back soon enough.
