Author Journey (June 3, 2024)
So apparently, it’s June! When did that happen? Seriously, we’re already halfway through the year and I feel like I’m still just getting started. Oh well, guess I had better get my nose down. This is going to be a busy month!
Author Journey (June 3, 2024)
Favourite Moment!
I received another book delivery last week which was a result of tirelessly scouring the used book markets. I’ve now completed another hard-to-get, out-of-print series – Magical Girl Apocalypse. But hang on! Haven’t I already read and reviewed that series? Why yes, I have, and I loved it which is why I needed to have a copy for myself. It’s definitely a series that I’ll reread, plus I had a couple of volumes and I hate having an incomplete set! My collection is starting to look very nice, although I may need another bookshelf so that they aren’t all stacked on top of one another… The problems never end (lol).
I also managed to locate a Blu-ray that I’ve been searching for. That was Hundred. Yes, I know. I’ve read and reviewed that series too. However lately, there have been a number of shows that I’ve wanted to watch or re-watch that are no longer available across the streaming services that I use. They used to be but now they’re not. I don’t like the idea of a show that I love suddenly disappearing on me. So, yes, I am now building up an anime collection too.
Writing!
I’m still working on the background details for my science fiction monster book which I’m picturing as something like Alien meets The Thing. I’ve gathered a number of images to help with the location and have some character set out. I’ve even begun to run through the scenes in my head. It’s like having a movie running all the time, but I keep stopping the action to reshoot a scene or moment. I’m enjoying it so far, so I hope it’ll come across that way when I finally get it out of my head and into a book.
Anime!
I finished 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy!, caught up on some seasonal shows, and then dived into my penultimate show from the Winter 2024 schedule. So far, I’ve watched thirteen shows from that season and it’s been a lot of fun. I’m definitely enjoying binge-watching them far more than watching an episode a week. It’s no fun being this far behind, but I can’t argue with how much more into the shows I get when I’m watching three or four episodes at once.
Catching up on my To-Watch List
Winter 2024
Spring 2024
- That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
- Mushoku Tensei II: Jobless Reincarnation
- KonoSuba: God’s blessing on this wonderful world!
Manga!
I kicked things into overdrive last week. It helped that I was near the end of several series and reached that point where I just had to power through to the end. I finished reading Gigant and have written up all of my reviews which I can’t wait to share. Those will begin in July so keep an eye out. You won’t want to miss them! I also got to the end of Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs. At twenty-four volumes long, it’s the longest series that I’ve reviewed and I’ve loved every moment. It’s going to be hard to move on to another series, although I do have Gleipnir to finish next so that should help!

Aspirations for the week!
I’ve mentioned it before, but I’m going to have very limited access to things for pretty much all of July. Well, that’s five weeks away and I need to get things in order before that happens. Having completed Gigant is going to help there, but I’ve still got twenty-six posts to schedule for that period. I’ve had a pretty good run lately and I’m going to need to keep that up for the whole of June, when I have twenty-seven posts to schedule. Well, at least I know what I have to do!
So, I’m going to continue to work on my story in a passive manner, getting it all sorted in my head with the hopes of writing it when I’m back in August. That should give me the time to focus on getting these posts done. I think it’s possible. I did schedule fifty-seven posts in the last five weeks, so it’s not unheard of. Anyhow, I’ve got to get on with it. Thanks for reading.
57 scheduled posts! You’re a machine!
Thanks. It’s crazy how it all adds up over time.
I can only aspire to reach the greatness that is 57 scheduled posts. I currently have 1. 1 scheduled post. I’m a beast! LOL
lol! You have to start somewhere.
I know what you mean about the vanishing of digital media – a problem compounded by the relative scarcity of physical media, which really bugs me.
Yeah. It seems crazy to me that a series can still be running and have a handful of volumes that are now out of print. For example, volumes 4,5 and 7 of Triage X are almost impossible to find. Volume 27 comes out in August. Surely, they want people to discover the series with each new release… It makes no sense to me. Not to mention how hard it is to find anything from before the year 2000 unless it’s Akira or Ghost in the Shell. I feel like many of those titles are going to be lost which is a massive shame.
Definitely it feels like a movie playing in your head, especially writing such intense scenes. The action scenes from my LitRPG story are “being animated/move on their own” in my head. Just that I need to form a different angle or my protagonist’s own fighting style along with her personality while doing those scenes be distinctive since her story is still similar to Sung Jinwoo and her appearance is a mixture of the most important female characters of SoLev.
I’m enjoying how my female protagonist is going through at the moment. Hopefully I’m not unconsciously writing her as a Mary Sue and that her silly girl persona is still visible after her fateful incident.
Yeah, the real trick is turning what we see and experience in our heads into something that someone else can enjoy. It’s almost like magic!
I promise that I’ll get around to reading your story soon. I’m looking forward to seeing what you’ve done with it.
