Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious (Episode 8) – Neat and Tidy but Overly Nymphomaniacal

Seiya is perfectly ready to face Beel Bub, but before he can get back to Gaelbarde, he’ll need to get past the nymphomaniacal goddess, Mitis! Ristarte runs to his aid, but she brought Mash and Elulu with her and Mitis isn’t picky.
What happened?
Ristarte visited Ariadoa to see how Mash and Elulu’s training was going and both were doing very well. Then, Ristarte told Ariadoa about how Seiya was training with Mitis in the Verdent Forest. Ariadoa was horrified, as Mitis had been banished there because she was a nymphomaniac who devours heroes and if Seiya gives in to her, he will be sent back to his own world. Ristarte races to his aid, but Seiya appears to have everything under control. Well, Mitis is tied up and naked… She breaks free and attempts to have her way with Mash as an appetizer, but Seiya unleashes his newest skill and penetrates her with five flaming arrows. They return to Gaelbarde and discover that Rosalie has attempted to defeat Beel Bub on her own, but Seiya had planned for that. He has Ristarte distract Beel Bub so that he can unleash yet another new skill!

What was your favourite element?
Mitis was hilarious and I certainly wasn’t expecting some of those camera angles… It all made for a rather bizarre and outrageous scene as she chased after Seiya and Mash, appearing more like a demon than a goddess. Other than that, of course, Seiya was prepared for Rosalie to do whatever she wanted to do and ignore his advice. I’m starting to think that her father, Warmaster will end up being the Demon Lord that is trying to take over Gaelbarde. She definitely has a hero complex and continues to tell Seiya that he’s not a real hero because of his tactics, but then a hero doesn’t just charge in and die, they have to think about their actions too.

What have you learnt?
Seiya is unflappable! Seriously, that guy is so calm and collected, it’s a little frightening. I love that there is obviously more going here than we’re seeing and small parts are being dropped for us to attempt to piece together what happened to Seiya to make him so cautious. I wonder if he has been involved with another hero or situation where he wasn’t prepared and it cost him dearly. Either way, the fun is in the speculating and leaving little breadcrumbs for the readers to try to work out the puzzle makes the ending that much more satisfying, especially when you can see how it all fit together after the fact. It’s also a good way to avoid the old deus ex machina ending, which would be oddly appropriate in a series with gods and goddesses!
