What happened?

Horn is weak and doesn’t have a hope of saving the others, but when her tears fall into the cup she took from Diablo’s dungeon a fairy appears, dressed as a schoolgirl! She tells Horn that she is the fairy of the Holy Grail and as such, she can help her level up, especially as she’s already given a blood offering… It doesn’t work as the “offering” was not blood so that leaves Horn with just one option – use the master-servant necklace.

She puts it on and heads to the cathedral with the Holy Grail fairy at her side. When they get to the magical elevator, the guards try to stop them. Horn tries out her new powers and discovers that she has acquired the ability – charm. With that, she can get information out of the guards and even ask them to do things for her, but only if she asks in a cute way… Horn is really suffering.

Horn finds Diablo and the others and tries to free them, but a Paladin takes her down with a summons. Diablo breaks out of the holding cell to rescue Horn and crush the Paladin. Then, he projects himself before all the believers and demands that the one closest to god be brought before him. Luckily, it was Lumachina, but she accepts his bluff and tells everyone to prepare for the journey to the next life…

What did you think?

So this was interesting… Back in Diablo’s treasure room, we saw that Horn really needed to take a pee, but there was nowhere to do it, so she found a large cup and well, I think you know how it works… Anyhow, the pee vanished and that was the offering the Holy Grail fairy was referring to. Well, guess we better move along.

It’s about time Diablo woke up and started behaving like a demon lord. Can’t help but wonder how Lord Ainz would have handled things here. There would have been a lot more casualties. It wasn’t a bad episode and had some funny/awkward moments, but that was about it. Lumachina, of course, continues to be the bane of everyone’s existence. She is something else…

What have you learnt?

Well, it didn’t take long for the master-servant necklace to come into play and in the end, it was all for nothing. My early comment about Lord Ainz was of course referring to Overlord and one of the things that I think has helped push Ainz to become the monster that he is, is his team. They are pretty evil by default and Diablo has been surrounded by too much cuteness and happiness. Thankfully, we have Rose who is trying her best to push him to become what we all know he can be.

What was his plan? Was he just going to sit in that cell until Lumachina had been executed? It all seems a little contrived, especially Horn coming to save them when she didn’t need to. She knew it too. Even more absurd, Diablo was allowed to sit in that cell with all of his magical gear on. Vishos must have been aware of his powers from his reports but did nothing to restrain him properly. It all feels a little lazy.
