Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? III (Episode 9) – Stigma | Downfall

The inhabitants of Orario are quickly turning on Bell after the mess he made of Daedalus streets, however, they don’t appear to have realised just what Bell was up to, well, some of them have!
What happened?
It was starting to look like everyone was turning on Bell. Even Welf had locked himself away in his forge and refused to see anyone. There hadn’t been any word of the Xeros either and it seemed unlikely that they had made it back to the dungeon, especially with the Loki Familia prowling Daedalus. Hestia decided to accompany Bell as he walked through the streets, looking for any sign that might lead them to the Xeros. However, when things started to get ugly, Hestia took the heat. Then, when Loki appeared and seemed to show an interest in Bell, Hestia had to hold her back while Bell ran off.
After a while wandering the streets alone, Bell bumped into Syr who offered his some lunch and a friend to talk to. Bell was a little reluctant to tell Syr much as he didn’t want her to get involved. She was fine with that and offered him her lap to rest his head for a while. These anime guys love resting their heads on girls laps…
Anyhow, the Xeros managed to get word to Bell that they were all right and had a plan to escape back to the dungeon, however, they needed Hestia Familia’s help. Bell knew how he was going to react but was surprised to see that everyone else had his back. Welf had even made four new magical swords. Now, they just needed to give the Xeros a chance to get to one of the six entrances before the Loki Familia found them.

What did you think?
So, it looks like Finn Deimne is shaping up to be the villain of this arc. Maybe that’s unfair, although I would really have liked to know a little more about why he’s so diligent in his pursuit of the Xeros. It’s fine to not like monsters, but he seems so completely closed off to any other possibility and it’s making him look like a villain. I said a couple of episodes back about how they had slowly shown us Ais’ distrust of monsters, although they never showed us why. Meanwhile, Finn has been thrown at us along with his hatred and we’ve barely seen more than a few minutes of the guy.
I also had a good laugh at everyone clapping when Welf showed them his new invisibility cape. That was a little too much. That said, I did really enjoy this episode and I love how Syr got a chance to help Bell. He owes her big time.

What have you learnt?
So, I’m going to take a guess that the next episode will feature some flashbacks of Finn and what made him who he is, however, I do wonder if it will be enough to create any sort of sympathy for him. He’s obviously not like Dix, but he could be. We need to find out what drives him and why. Otherwise, I don’t see the point to it. They might as well have used Ais and make it really interesting. It’s good that Finn is recognisably at this stage in the story, but he needed fleshing out before taking on such an important role, providing that happens.

Is it Wrong to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon is one of my favorite anime today. Loved the first season as it had you root for the MC and it has a decent harem element to it. If you’re wondering why I like harems so much, just blame tenchi lol. I haven’t finished season 2 yet as It kind of deviated from what I loved about it but I’ll finish it to get to season 3.
Season 2 and 3 are worth watching but they aren’t even close to the first season. That’s one of my favourites too.
It stopped having those great character defining moments. Bell for the most part stopped advancing as a lone fighter and now relies mostly on his friends. I would’ve been better if they kept up with his development into a God.
I don’t mind the group of friends, but I think it would have been nicer to focus on him pushing deeper into the dungeon and growing as an adventurer. They could have got all the other stuff in and still kept the strengths of the first season.
I agree. I wonder if the anime follows the manga.
I think it does, at least from the comments I’ve read online. Second season was too rushed and the third is a little slow though.
