Jujutsu Kaisen (Episode 22) – The Origin of Blind Obedience
A series of unusual murders has caught the attention of the Jujutsu sorcerers. They appear unrelated, but then they discover they all went to school together. Not only that, it was the same school Fushiguru went to!
Jujutsu Kaisen (Episode 22) – The Origin of Blind Obedience
What happened?
Three seemingly unrelated murders in different parts of the country have shown up on the Jujutsu radar. As such, Itadori, Fushiguru, and Nobara are asked to accompany an investigator to get to the bottom of things. Upon reflection all three died in a similar way, all three complained of the automatic door at their building being left open, and finally, all three went to school together.
As such, they have been able to identify a fourth person that went to school with them and are on their way to talk to him. However, when they arrive they find that he too has died in a similar manner. With no one left to talk to they head to the school, they all attended.
Once there, Nobara starts picking on a couple of stoners. They are very apologetic and that’s because they recognised Fushiguru. He apparently went to this school and spent his time beating up the delinquents. After asking them and a member of staff some questions they discovered that the four guys all had a mysterious encounter at a bridge. They all woke up beneath it with no memory of what happened.
Itadori, Fushiguru, and Nobara went to the bridge and waited to see if anything happened. When it ended up as a complete waste of time, they got frustrated and went to grab something to eat. That was when one of the stoners from the school caught up with them as his sister has been experiencing weird things. It all sounds very similar to what happened before the four men were killed.
The most troubling factor about this was that Fushiguru’s sister was there too. If he didn’t act now, she too would be murdered by this mysterious curse. Fushiguru managed to slip away from the others and made his way down to the bridge. He heard that everyone involved had walked below. There’s a river at the bottom. He would need to jump over it to enter the incomplete domain that he was expecting to be there.
Of course, Itadori and Nobara followed him and weren’t about to let him go alone. They entered the domain and found the curse responsible, however, before they could act, another more powerful curse arrived and it could talk!
What did you think?
I was glad to see the story back to following Itadori, Fushiguru, and Nobara. They have quite a cool dynamic, especially the way they look out for one another, but also tease and make fun of each other too. There were some brilliantly creepy parts in this episode, most notably when the sister of the stoner was explaining what she’d been experiencing. The hairs on the back of my neck are still standing.
On top of that, Getou and Mahito had pinned a guy to a wall in his apartment and forced him to eat one of the curses they stole from Jujutsu tech. No doubt, this was the cursed spirit that arrived at the end of the episode and it seemed annoyed that someone beat it to there. That can only mean that Getou and Mahito want something that’s there. Could it be another of Sukuna’s fingers?
What have you learnt?
I’m not entirely convinced that it is one of Sukuna’s fingers. My gut tells me that it has more to do with Fushiguru and his sister. Getou already alluded in prior episodes that someone at the school is likely of interest to Sukuna and not just Itadori. That’s why they didn’t try to kill all the students when they attacked. Is it possible that they have worked out who that is?
Maybe. It also makes sense that they would try to get more people on their side. They know that they need to get Itadori to join them so what better way than to put him at odds with one of his friends. Then they can try to swoop in and take control. It’s possible that I’m giving Setou too much credit, but somehow I feel like he’s quite meticulous with his planning.
