Jujutsu Kaisen (Volume 4) – I’m Gonna Kill You!
Junpei is taking out his fury on the bullies at his school, but he’s also been twisted by Mahito. Yuji has arrived to stop him and hopefully talk some sense into him, but that’s just what Mahito wants.
Jujutsu Kaisen (Volume 4) – I’m Gonna Kill You!
What happened?
Nanami told Yuji that he was not to interfere with Junpei until he could be there to help, but he knew Yuji wouldn’t listen. There were people’s lives at stake and Yuji was never going to wait. He attacked Junpei trying to get him to stop his attack on the students. However, Mahito had given Junpei a jellyfish Shikigami and taught him how to use it. Would Yuji be strong enough to stop him?
Either way, he wasn’t going to stop trying. At one point, he finally got through to Junpei and found out why he was doing this. Yuji had no idea about his mother and was devastated. When Junpei attacked next, Yuji didn’t block or avoid it. He stood there and took the attack. Junpei was shocked. He never meant to hurt Yuji and now this happened. Junpei stopped and jumped back, but Mahito was waiting for him. He turned Junpei into something else and had him attack. Yuji pleaded with Sukuna to save Junpei but he refused. He even had a good laugh about it with Mahito.
However, when Mahito attacked Yuji, he soon discovered that hurting Yuji was going to be tough. He attacks the soul and since Sukuna is in there, he attacks Sukuna too, and he isn’t too happy about it. Luckily, Nanami arrived to help and together they put Mahito on the ropes. Unfortunately, that gave Mahito the energy he needed to activate Domain Expansion around Nanami. No one can get out of a Domain once it’s been created, but that doesn’t mean someone can’t get in. Yuji broke inside and in doing so forced Mahito to attack Sukuna once more. Sukuna was done giving warnings!
What did you think?
Things felt like they really got going with this volume and I think that’s how I felt with the anime too. There have been some great moments before now, but this is where it really ramps up. There was the conclusion of the Junpei arc which brought us Nanami. We saw more of Sukuna being a complete badass as he laughed at Yuji and then destroyed Mahito without much effort. We got to see things coming together for the villains and the beginning of the tournament arc.
This volume absolutely cemented the idea that Nanami is one of my favourite characters in the series. Of course, the next arc will show me even more favourite characters. There are so many good ones, it’s hard to leave anyone out. Anyhow, this volume ended with the beginning of one of those truly beautiful moments as Toudou asked Yuji what kind of woman he liked. I love what comes next. This series just gets better and better.
