Lycoris Recoil (Episode 9) – What’s done is done
What happened?
Chisato is remarkably relaxed about the news, but then she didn’t have long to live anyhow. Soon after the news, she returns to DA headquarters and meets with the commander who wants her to come back for the mission to take down Majima. She’s not interested in spending her remaining time that way. In an attempt to change her mind, the commander returns her camera from before her surgery. before leaving, Chisato tells her to take Takina back.
Not long after, Takina is given a letter with an offer to return. She wants it but she’s not sure she really wants it. After one mission, Takina returns to the cafe to find Kurumi questioning Mika. He tells her that Yoshimatsu gave Chisato the heart so that she could use her gift to kill. However, in saving Chisato from her congenital heart condition, they gave her the idea to use her gift to save and help people rather than kill. That was the biggest issue for the Alan Institute.
Takina decided to take Chisato on a day of fun before she responded to the DA. She had it all mapped out and it ended in a park overlooking the city where it was scheduled to snow. Unfortunately, it didn’t snow. Takina told Chisato about the offer from the DA. Chisato was delighted for her, although Takina had to respond today. Just as she ran off, it started to snow. She turned and saw Chisato smiling back at her. It had been a great day.
What did you think?
Well, they better find a way to save Chisato! I’m also particularly interested in the post-credit scene where Majima stopped Yoshimatsu’s car. This could be a cathartic release, however, I feel like he’ll be needed to replace Chisato’s heart or fix the existing one. I’m curious why they didn’t just kill her instead of destroying the battery. No doubt, there is a plan involved. I also get the feeling Mika isn’t too happy with Yoshimatsu too. He’s going to have a long list of people ready to pull the trigger should the situation occur.
So, one thing did disappoint me with this episode. When Takina was running to contact the DA and it started to snow, she turned back to look for Chisato. Nice moment, but why didn’t she run back and hug her? That moment needed something like that. The audience needed it. The show has been showing these two become closer and closer and now that Chisato is looking at her final days, there’s no time to be coy or play hard to get. Give the girl a hug already.
