Momoko searches a nearby town for the next fragment of the 3000-Year Peach and bumps into the Oni Princess. They have a food-eating contest and then a battle, but neither emerges victorious. Momoko has a rival!

What happened?

It’s the first time Momoko has seen a town so big and she’s quite overwhelmed. After marvelling at the number of people, she decides to get some food, however, someone else tries to order the same thing as her and there’s only one left. In order to decide who should get it, they have an eating contest with peach buns. After four hundred peach buns were consumed, it ended in a tie. Before they could settle the bill, the stranger was dragged away by a man in a cloak.

Momoko was furious that she had to pay the bill, and also that she didn’t win. Anyhow, they find the next 3000-Year Peach fragment in a home, but the owner is unwilling to give it up. Suddenly, the town bursts into flames and the people run for their lives. However, Maron realises it’s an illusion and shatters it with her mallet. They find the Oni searching for the fragment and soon discover the girl from the eating contest is an Oni. Momoko has to fuse with Suragami to defeat her, but she still escapes with the peach fragment!

What did you think?

I wasn’t expecting Momoko to lose! That was quite the surprise. I mean she won the fight but failed to keep the peach fragment. And I thought this was going to be all victories and bouncing boobs! At least one part is still coming true. That said, I liked that she didn’t completely win. It makes it far more interesting knowing that either side can win. I’d much rather it was like this than a long streak of victories.

On top of that, we have a suitable rival for Momoki in Onihime. It does seem that this series is going to be very formulaic, but that’s fine. Not every show needs to surprise you all the time. Sometimes, you just want to be able to sit down and relax, and that’s exactly what I’m getting from Momo Kyun Sword. It’s silly, it’s funny, and there are peaches everywhere… Millions of peaches, peaches for me!
