What happened?

Mero has taken to calling Kimihito my beloved, which is really frustrating Mia. Kimihtio is her darling. She’s not about to let some mermaid waltz in a take him from her. Unfortunately, in her frustration, she broke Mero’s wheelchair. It’s going to be a while before they can get another so Kimihito is forced to carry her around the house. That just makes Mia even more jealous. When Kimihito takes Mero to her room where there is a fifteen-metre-deep pool, Mia convinces the others to put on bikinis and go too. Of course, the water is too cold for Mia and her body shuts down.

Mero and Kimihito pull Mia out of the water and warm her up. Mia is feeling a little silly now and wants to apologise to Mero so asks to have some time alone with her. Well, it turns out Mero is only interested in tragic relationships and is hoping that she can be the third wheel in Mia and Kimihito’s romance. Maybe, she’ll even be discarded and turn into sea foam. As long as she can have the occasional Menage a Trois, she’ll be good.

Kimihito comes down with a cold and the girls are keen to look after him, however, Agent Smith burst in and reveals that they must quarantine Kimihito to avoid a new strain that might jump between species. Of course, Agent Smith was just trying to get out of filling out the paperwork for the Mon Squad. It looks like Suu is the only one that can help him since she’s made differently. After lots of bad advice from the others, Suu nuzzles her breast into his mouth. He instinctively feeds and then jumps back. However, his cold has gone. Incredible. But that’s nothing… Papi is about to lay an egg…

What did you think?

This was another fun volume although Mia getting a little too jealous was kind of annoying. I did like the twist with Mero where she doesn’t want a successful relationship and how that could work with Mia and Kimihito. Of course, I’m not sure where that leaves everyone else as I’m sure they’re not going to give up and now that Suu seems to be able to talk without mimicking others that makes it even more complicated.

I’m also looking forward to seeing more scenes with the Mon Squad as they take on Liminal criminals. If I’m being completely honest, I thought the first book was still the best one and I would have preferred them to spend more time with the original trio of girls. At least give them more time to build a relationship before flooding the house with more monster girls. Still, it is a lot of fun. It looks like we’ve got a spider-girl in the next issue, plus who knows what else!
