Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation (Episode 13) – Missed Connections
Roxy continues her search for Rudeus. She has a close call with Dead End, unaware that Rudeus is actually with them. However, Rudeus and Eris have found a way to the next continent, but it involves smugglers!

What happened?
Roxy arrived at the Guild with Elinalise and Talhand and begins to search for information. It’s been a year since the mana event and most of Paul’s family was teleported to the Demon Continent. The strangest news is of a new party that calls themselves Dead End that has gained notoriety since the event. This concerns Roxy as she is aware of the Superd called Dead End and warns Elinalise and Talhand to stay away from them.
After a close call where Roxy found two people who she believed were a part of Dead End training on the beach, she ran back to her room at the inn and found Elinalise having sex with five guys. She freaked out and blew them and the side of the building away with an ice attack. After paying for their damages, they leave town unaware of just how close they came to finding Rudeus.
Rudeus has left town too. However, he has gone in the opposite direction with Eris aboard a ship. Ruijerd has been smuggled thanks to the Gallus Cleaner, although he needs them to do something for him once they reach land. There are some assets that he needs freeing. Rudeus imagined the most over the top situation from the boat trip, but things rarely turn out how you’d imagine. Eris was sick the entire voyage.
After reaching the next continent, Rudeus went to the smugglers’ den to recover Ruijerd. Once inside, he witnesses some horrific things. He’s taken Ruijerd who informs him that there are six beast girls that they are to free. One has already been killed, however. Rudeus prepares to attack, but Ruijerd tells him to use his hands to save Eris and leave this to him.
What did you think?
This series completely sucks you in. The world is so lavishly designed while you’re dragged through the narrow streets by the haunting yet gentle opening music. Before you know it, most of the episode has gone and you’re desperately waiting for the next one. This episode saw the series return to the darker nature of things with the smugglers. It’s interesting that Rudeus still hasn’t quite built up the strength to kill. I hope that doesn’t come back to haunt him when the time calls for it.
I’m also gutted that Roxy and Rudeus missed one another and even more so that Roxy had all the information to find him. If only his nickname hadn’t been passed around as Kennel Master Rudjerd! We got to see a little more of Elinalise and that was quite the eye-opener. I hope we’ll learn more about these characters too as there’s obviously much more than meets the eye. Had to laugh about how they both thought Paul was scum though.
What have you learnt?
I didn’t think they would leave the Demon continent so soon, but it would appear that Rudeus has managed to fall into another situation and this time with the Beast-people. He’s been captured and faces crimes of kidnapping and smuggling the Sacred Beast as they found him playing with the dog with a lewd face… Poor Rudeus and his resting lewd face! Rather than hear him out, they incapacitated him and took him away.
The beast-man that did so appeared to be able to communicate with the Sacred Beast so I’m sure this will all get straightened out in no time and Rudeus will find some new situation to utilise his resting lewd face. The big problem is if Ruijerd comes looking for him as that could escalate things considerably. I was surprised to see another instance of trafficking young girls so soon after watching The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat. It certainly fits into this world though. I can’t wait to see where this goes from here.
