My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog (Episode 6) – A Lonely Rabbit
What happened?
Pochita discovers that Usagi has been coming to his house to care for his plants ever since he went missing. At least that rules out the idea that he died and was reborn as a dog. Something must have changed him! Usagi spots Pochita and picks him up. She takes him back to her house where she promptly passes out with a fever. Rain is brutal in Japan. Pochita realises that she’s not well and decides he must get her out of those wet clothes. But, he’s just a little dog. How will he do it?
Through sheer will to ensure Usagi is safe, Pochita manages to strip her of her wet clothes. Then, he piles some of her dry clothes on top of her and even manages to slip a fresh pair of panties onto her. Before she’s had a chance to get back to normal, there’s a knock at the door. It’s Karen and Mike searching for Pochita. The door was open so when there was no response they head inside and find Karen semi-naked on the floor with Pochita. This could get tense!

What did you think?
This was basically the unaired episode of Lassie where Suzy fell down the well, but instead of getting help Lassie pulled her out, stripped her of her wet clothes, and… This episode was hilarious. Like completely mind-bogglingly ridiculous. What made it even better was the fact that Karen found Usagi on the floor with Pochita and rather than asking if she was all right, Karen unleashed her death stare. Poor Pochita is going to have to undress Karen every night from now on to make up for this betrayal!
I grew up in England where it rains a lot and people passing out from fevers due to rain exposure is not a thing. It may happen every once in a while, but it’s not a part of media culture. It seems to happen in every other series in anime. People must be terrified of the rain there by now! At the beginning of the series, I was guilty of not treating it like the bizarre comedy that it clearly is. I think if you come into this expecting to be shocked then you’ll have a much more enjoyable experience. Right now, I’m expecting things to get ever more ridiculous.
