Princess Connect! Re: Dive (Episode 14) – A Walk on the Gourmet Side ~Curiosity Is the Best Bouquet Garni~
Kokkoro acquired a map that could lead to the Drops of the Sea, a legendary seasoning. Unfortunately, the map is incomplete, but that’s not going to stop Pecorine from trying. It’s time for a new adventure!

What happened?
After Kokkoro gifted the guild receptionist with some wild mushrooms, her kindness was rewarded in the form of a map. Not just any map, however, this one leads to the Drops of the Sea, a legendary seasoning. Of course, the map wasn’t complete and no one knew exactly what the Drops of the Sea were, but a small detail like that isn’t going to stop Pecorine and once she gets going, there’s no stopping her. So without any further consideration, they set off on a new adventure.
They travelled outside of Landosol and eventually found their way to a coral forest where fish swam in the air. Unfortunately, they got lost and couldn’t find their way out or even the way to the Drops of the Sea. Karyl was starting to lose her mind too as all they had to eat was fish. Pecorine and Yuuki went out in search of meat and succeeded. However, the monster meat did not agree with them and put them all in a sticky situation. Luckily, an old man saved them and then guided them to the place where they could find the rest of the map. Could they find the Drops of the Sea?
What did you think?
I fell in love with the first season when it aired. So much so that I’ve been playing the mobile game for almost a year now. Basically, I signed up for the pre-order as soon as it was available and haven’t missed a day since… Anyhow, this episode was fantastic and left me smiling all the way through. It was like returning to old friends and then going on some crazy adventure together. Everything I loved about the first season was here. We even had the crazy wolves that are somewhat determined to eat Yuuki. It didn’t do anything to progress the actual plot, but it was a lot of fun and I’ll take as much of this as they’re willing to give.
What have you learnt?
The first season of Princess Connect! Re: Dive really started me on the road to championing characters over plot and this episode showed exactly why. The plot for this episode was simple. It was a straightforward adventure that took them through fantastical scenery and had them facing monsters and ghosts. It’s entirely possible that I’m biased as I’ve spent a lot of time with these characters, but in truth, I had already fallen in love with them after the first season. Ultimately, it’s the character that makes us want to revisit worlds, and in that, I would include the world as a character. If they are done well, we will happily hang out with them as they do just about anything.
The other thing to note is just how positive and happy this series is. Sure, there were some sinister monsters in the first season and some sad revelations, but the overall mood is so uplifting that it’s hard not to get swept up in their world. I think we could all use a little more happiness in our lives.

I still can’t get over Pecorine gazing at the castle. That’s the kind of moment I watch anime hoping to see.
She hides her pain so well around others. I think I took about ten screenshots of her looking at the castle and didn’t use any of them in this post. Might save them for later.
