That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Episodes 41-44) – Scheming and Levelling Up!
While the Demon Lords prepare for Walpurgis, Benimaru is leading Rimuru’s forces against Clayman’s army. It looks like it’s going to be an easy win for Benimaru, but Clayman has a few sneaky tricks still to play.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Episodes 41-44)
Episode 41 – The Eve of Battle
The people of Eurazania are in dire need of help, but getting there will take too long. Luckily for Rimuru, Raphael has come up with a solution. He can now use Spacial Movement on a large scale and plans on transporting his army to meet Clayman’s. Of course, he’s still worried about the citizens so Raphael suggests he teleports them all here. Clayman isn’t going to know what happened. Well, that is until Rimuru crashes Walpurgis along with Shion and Ranga. Ramiris is coming too so it should be entertaining, to say the least. Of course, Rimuru has the ability to summon Veldora if needed. They’re never going to forget this meeting!
Episode 42 – The Demon Lords
Rimuru is busy making his plans to crash Walpurgis which allows us to see how the other Demon Lords are preparing. Frey is being attended by some of her minions when an emotionless Milim enters her room. It prompts her to think of the time when she helped Clayman by placing a necklace on Milim that allows him to control her. She seems to lament helping him and it seems like her interference in Milim’s fight with Carrion plays into this. What is Frey planning? Whatever it is Clayman is not going to like it. Far away, Leon Cromwell has arrived at Guy Crimson’s ice palace and isn’t too pleased to be there. Guy, one of the oldest Demon Lords, tells Leon that he wants him to attend Walpurgis this time. He thinks it’s going to be entertaining, to say the least!
Episode 43 – The Signal to Begin the Banquet
Benimaru reports to Rimuru ahead of the battle and announces their imminent victory… Seems like overconfidence, but Benimaru gained a skill that enables him to read a battlefield. He’s set up a trap and is about to spring it. When he does, Clayman’s forces don’t even have a chance to fight back. They are annihilated within seconds. Of course, this just leaves the stronger fighters behind. Benimaru allows the Beastketeers to go after them, but sends help. Phobio tracks down Footman and Tear and gets backup from Geld. Suphia tracks down the Dragon Followers with the help of Gabiru. That leaves Albis with the task of going after the leader, Yamza and luckily for her, Gobta and the Goblin Riders are with her.
Episode 44 – On This Land Where It All Happened
Middray of the Dragon Faithful is enjoying fighting Suphia and welcomes Gabiru to join once he defeats Hermes. Meanwhile, Albis continues to fight Yamza and even when he creates a doppelganger of himself she easily defeats him. He plans on surrendering, but Clayman has other ideas. Taking control of his paralyzed arm, Clayman forces Yamza to swallow a fragment of Charybdis’ soul making him a host for a new Charybdis. Albis tries in vain to defeat it, but she can’t even scratch it. Middray has his men heal the Dragonnewts so that they can fight Charybdis together. However, Benimaru intervenes and basically one-shots Charybdis. Phobio and Geld are defeated by Footman and Tear, although they don’t have orders to kill them so they slip away to report to Clayman.
Scheming and Levelling Up!
Since Rimuru became a Demon Lord all those closely connected to him received a gift. From what we’ve seen so far, it is a unique skill that makes them even more powerful. We saw Shion’s at the banquet where she is able to prepare a meal and it will taste exactly how she intended it to, regardless of how good it actually is. Given how devasting her cooking was beforehand, this seems like an overpowered skill if ever I saw one.
The question is what has everyone else got. Before the battle, Benimaru revealed that they were planning on sending Soei and Hakurou to investigate Clayman’s castle while he was at Walpurgis. It seemed risky, but they were sure it would work out. However, Shuna intervened and demanded that she go with them. We’ve seen before how Shuna can nullify magic that affects the mind when she cancelled out Kirara’s influencing skill. So, I think whatever she has is an evolution of that.
I’m really enjoying all the scheming and plotting that’s going on in this season of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. To some, I’m sure the scenes with the Demon Lords sitting around drinking tea and discussing Rimuru would have seemed boring, but I loved the intricacies of their discussions and how it appears that Rimuru is everywhere. Could it all be a coincidence? I don’t think Leon Cromwell thinks so.
Of course, that makes me wonder whether there isn’t someone pulling the strings. It’s already been hinted that Clayman is following someone else’s plans. Ironically, the puppetmaster might be a puppet! So, this makes me wonder what implications that has for Rimuru. The big question is why he was reincarnated to this world with his memories intact? Is that also just a coincidence?
Anyhow, back to the gifts. We learnt from Benimaru that he received a new skill that lets him read the flow of battle as if it were a river. He can see where it’s going and how to redirect it. This is bad news for Clayman’s army who literally walked into a trap and were massacred. However, this is nothing. Benimaru has been holding out on us.
Yamza was about to surrender when Clayman forced him to become Charybdis. Now, it was a weaker form of Charybdis, but incredibly dangerous all the same. The Dragon Faithfull were concerned enough to cancel their fight with Rimuru’s forces to focus on occupying it until it died naturally after a day. Well, Benimaru wasn’t prepared to wait that long so he obliterated it. It was a great way to show how much stronger he had become. He barely even broke a sweat!
There are many more of Rimuru’s subordinates that are yet to reveal their gifts so there’s plenty more to look forward to, but the main focus for the remaining four episodes has to be Walpurgis. Now, if that isn’t the epicentre of all schemes I don’t know what is. Clayman thinks that he has the upper hand and will use Milim to ensure that happens. However, Frey seems to be plotting something and believes that Clayman is doomed.
Then there’s Guy Crimson and Leon Cromwell who will no doubt be delighted to see Rimuru crash the banquet and upset Clayman. Of course, we still need to find out about Carrion who will make an appearance. I get the feeling Clayman is going to regret messing with Milim and Rimuru. It’s also good to see that Rimuru’s scheming is working too as everyone believes that Veldora killed the Falmuth army and is in a weakened state as he’s now hiding his aura. This should be a lot of fun!
