Ansatsu Kizoku Title

Lugh has one final training exercise that will decide whether he is ready to progress to his final test. All he has to do is fight his father. It’s not necessarily about winning, but that doesn’t mean he wants to lose!

What happened?

Lugh has become quite popular in the Tuatha Dé region. He takes his time to help the citizens and make everyone’s lives better. Tarte asks him why. Doesn’t he do enough fighting off bandits and monsters? Lugh explains that there’s more to winning the people’s hearts than strength. She follows up by asking if he’s so nice to her for the same reason. He confirms it but clarifies that he needs her so he will do whatever it takes to keep her happy. She’s grateful and pledges to be with him forever.

After depositing his latest fully charged collection of Fahr Stones in his room, he’s summoned to meet with his father. Cian discusses Tarte with him, where they go over their concerns and how they have accepted her as one of them. Both are relieved that they don’t need to kill her. However, that’s not what the meeting is about. It’s time for Lugh’s final training and test where he will have to fight his father!

It’s an assassin’s battle so the element of surprise is key. Whoever finds the other first will have the advantage. Cian is the first to attack and successfully breaks Lugh’s leg. However, Lugh manages to evade his further attacks and heals himself with magic. The battle continued through the forest with Cian laying traps for Lugh and finding ways to deceive him. Lugh uses that to his advantage and waits for a moment to strike.

Having won the fight, Lugh is all set for his final test. Twelve years ago, Cian had a notable merchant create a birth record for a son that he had with a prostitute. Of course, that never happened, but it is the perfect cover for Lugh. He has two years to learn how to become a merchant before he’s ready to take on missions.

What did you think?

I still think that Goddess is up to something. She seems to take great enjoyment in belittling the warriors that she summons. Of course, they generally seem to disappoint her so it’s not surprising that she’s a little twisted by the process, but then we still don’t know what she is trying to achieve. Maybe all these other warriors were sent to kill Lugh who has now become the real threat to the world? That would be crazy and cool!

So, it was a slower episode even with the fight between Lugh and Cian in the middle. However, I like that it is taking the time to set everything up. There were some funny moments such as Lugh’s enormous stash of Fahr Stones after he managed to copy the one Dia gave him. That’s a lot of firepower right there. With the way this series has moved forwards, I’m almost expecting Lugh to have completed his training as a merchant early on in the next episode. Then we can really get to the meat of the story as Lugh starts to clean up.

What have you learnt?

We’ve seen that Lugh is quite shrewd with how he works to gain the people’s trust. He’s thorough and that deserves some praise. Even at the party to see him off on his final trial, there was one boy that was not happy about Lugh’s rise to dominance in the family. He challenged Lugh and was swiftly defeated. However, Lugh met him outside and offered him a position as a knight in the family. He even gave him a sword. The reason I highlight this part was that this was Lugh doing the exact same thing.

It’s quite possible the Ronah would have become a problem further down the line. Just beating him in that fight wasn’t enough to guarantee it was over. However, Lugh has sought to raise Ronah up and even gave him a gift. This is his classic technique. His goal is to channel Ronah’s strength in a good way. A way that is useful to Lugh. The only thing left to ponder is what Lugh’s mother taught Tarte before they left to become merchants?
