Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid (Episode 12) – Valkyrie Drive

Momoka has made Mamori her own and intends to defy the organisation now that she has the Valkyrie Effect. Mirei isn’t about to let her take Mamori without a fight and it’s going to be one hell of a fight!

Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid Episode 12) – Valkyrie Drive

What happened?

Mirei attempted to fight Momoka, but she was pretty much outgunned from the start. Luckily, one by one, all of her friends joined the fight. Kasumi was first, complete with Hibiki arms. Then, Lady Lady showed up. Next, Meifon joined the battle in her money suit of armour. Even that wasn’t enough, but then Akira Hiragi appeared with her artificial arms. It gave them a chance to attack, but Momoka’s team arrived and quickly turned the tides once more. Momoka took the chance to absorb them all into Mamori, making her even more powerful!

The evil organisation behind the A-Virus had been monitoring and wasn’t too happy about Momoka going rogue. The pantless leader ordered a satellite attack, but Momoka blocked it, flew into space, and destroyed the satellite. Meanwhile, inside Mamori’s arms, the girls were being subjected to a tentacle attack that was sucking the A-Virus out of them to make Mamori more powerful. Mirei managed to break free, find Mamori, free her, and escape from the arms. Once outside, Mirei and Mamori became one and took on Momoka and her team.

Ultimately, Mirei and Mamori defeated Momoka and manage to cure all of the girls on Mermaid Island of the A Virus. They can all return home, but Mirei and Mamori have more to do. There are more islands, after all. Lady J, Rain Hasumi, and Meifon all decide to accompany them on their new adventure, wherever that may take them!

This was an epic conclusion to this story. Absolutely epic! The fight was crazy and I loved how all the different people that Mamori and Mirei had come into contact with played a role in the battle. Even Nimi Minimi used her giant ability. This was also the first episode that I got serious Magical Girl vibes and if you were wondering if there was going to be any weird tentacle scenes in Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid, they certainly answered that with a pretty clear response. This series was completely bonkers, but it’s also loveable and a lot of fun. Ultimately, it’s a love story about Mirei and Mamori, but there’s so much more…
