YU-NO: A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of This World (Episode 20) – Into the Rafaelo Desert
What happened?
Sayless killed herself to save Takuya and bizarrely, it works. The soldiers decided to leave him and carry her body back to the Capital City. Yu-No hurrying back to the house is met by the spirit of her mother, Sayless who says that they are now one. Yu-No goes back to the house and comforts Takuya, explaining that her mother will always be with her.
The soldiers also took the Reflector Device, which means that even if Takuya had the Psychite he wouldn’t be able to save Kanna anyhow. Now, he’ll need to cross the uncrossable desert (unless you’re a soldier apparently), get the Reflector Device, find some Psychite, and punch the emperor in the face. Easy!
It’s tough, but somehow they make it to an oasis when they meet Sarah. She’s naked a lot and quite erratic but offers to help them. However, a wanted criminal herself, she leads them into a trap where Takuya is captured and put to work in a quarry while Yu-No is taken someplace else. In the quarry, Takuya spots a familiar structure…
What did you think?
It’s fairly safe to say that this arc of Yu-No has taken a severe swerve from what we’re used to. That said, it still doesn’t pull any punches, having Sayless kill herself, Takuya imprisoned, and Yu-No taken away to become a priestess no doubt. On top of that, we have Sarah and she’s bonkers. I would have never guessed that the story would have gone this way, but it’s still enjoyable. Hopefully, it will all start to come together so that when it’s all done and dusted it will make perfect sense.
