Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs (Volume 10) – Stairway to Heaven
What happened?
Hiougi was enjoying another shift working with Kogarsahi when her main rival walked into the restaurant. Oboro had discovered that Kogarashi was working there and hoped to further her chances of mating with him. Hiougi viewed Oboro as her main rival since she was undeterred by the others. They, for the most part, kept each other in check. Oboro was different. After talking with Kogarashi, Oboro decided that she would try her hand at serving since Hiougi received praise from Kogarashi. When Oboro got too close to Kogarashi, Hiougi warped her to the upper atmosphere. When Oboro got back, she teleported Hiougi somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. It would appear that they would have to accept one another before it got worse.
Rumours of a mysterious staircase started to spread around the school. Any girl who climbed the stairs would show her panties, whether she wanted to or not! Sagiri was furious and quickly gathered everyone together. They had to make it stop. In order for it to work, Kogarashi had to stand at the bottom of the stairs. Then, the girls took turns walking up the stairs to test it out. It never failed. Even when Urakata wore shorts beneath her skirt, her panties ended up being exposed. However, since it was the rumour that gave it the power, they needed to change the rumour. To do that, they needed Kogarashi to wear women’s clothes and climb the stairs…
The town was putting on a festival to promote the area and the hot springs. When a local group pulled out of the festival, Nakai convinced the others to put on a performance. However, they had no experience and very few of them could play instruments. Still, Nakia needed them so they pulled it together and created a show. Then, when the day of the performance came around they were in the middle of their routine when Yuuna’s fake body vanished, leaving the audience stunned.
What did you think?
There were a lot of little arcs that were all pretty entertaining. It’s unfortunate for me that they’re having another idol arc since they tend to be the ones I enjoy the least. However, this volume more than made up for that by introducing one of my favourite tropes. Who would have thought that there would be a natural hot spring arc in a story set at a hot spring hotel? Obviously, I’m joking. However, this particular arc had Nonko (one of my favourite characters) and Matora (one of my new favourite characters) and they were embracing the natural side of things. There was a lot to enjoy.
There were also some heartfelt moments as Nakai talked about how she’s seen people come ago in her long life and while she wants to instantly fix all of their issues, she knows that the kickback would be worse. She has to just watch over them and hope that things will work out in the end. She’s confident that they will, but it’s a hard process to watch sometimes. I also think the introduction of half-succubus, Yumesaki has been excellent. The incident with Chisaki was hilarious. That was quite the situation. I can’t imagine trying to carry on as normal when you see yourself naked, even if you’re not to everyone else.
