Author Journey (December 28, 2020)

Sometimes, you’ve just got to take the time off, especially when it forces itself upon you. It’s not necessarily a bad thing even if it feels like cheating. And trust me, I know just how hard it is to actually take a break!

That’s right, let’s get it out of the way to start with. I haven’t written a single word this week and I’m all right with that. It’s Christmas after all. The kids are out of school and excited, so it seems like the perfect time to not put any more pressure on me. After all, Christmas is like a part-time job, taking over any and all extra moments you might have thought you had. There’s decorating, wrapping, cooking, and so much more. On top of that, we’ve just entered a month-long lockdown in Ontario so there’s been that to plan for too!
Yeah, we’re back to the lockdown. Luckily, we have another week off work, but after that, the schools are remaining closed for another week, which means virtual lessons… Hopefully, they’ve come a long way since the mess that was the end of the last school year. And, to add further excitment, I’ll be entering the financial reporting period for year end, 2020! That’s bound to go smoothly.

So, just a quick update on my shoulder and things seem to be progressing well. I almost have complete feeling in all my fingers again and am not being kept up all night with a dull ache. Hopefully, another week of taking it easy will see me through the worst of it. I do have more episodes of Harukana Receive, KonoSuba, Goblin Slayer, and Record of Grancrest War to get on with so that’s going to be enough to keep me working, but not enough to make it too tough.
My season reviews of Iwakakeru and DanMachi3 will be out this week and while I have enjoyed both, neither has been perfect. Luckily, there’s a lot to be learnt from both, which is good because I was expecting Iwakakeru to be mostly light entertainment. As I said last week, I have a couple more season reviews to release in the following week as I wait for the new seasonal shows to begin. I’ve pretty much settled on season two of Dr Stone, The Quintessential Quintuplets, and The Promised Neverland. They’re all sequels so that should be interesting.

Like I said, there was no writing this week. Not a single word!

I’m not planning on doing any writing this week either, but you never know what might happen. However, the lockdown and the second week of vacation should ensure that I don’t do any. I do have something exciting scheduled for Tuesday and I’m looking forward to letting you all know what that is. I can’t say anything yet, but will do as soon as I can. Exciting times are coming, and not just the new anime season!

Good for you! We all need time to recharge the creative juices. I am a big believer that you can’t force these things. Also, I am totally hyped about Dr. Stone and The Promised Neverland. So many good anime coming this season!
It helps to be honest with yourself too. No point setting a goal that I know I’m not going to achieve. And yeah, there are some great shows in this season’s lineup.
