Author Journey (May 19, 2025)

Another two weeks have passed which means it’s time to update you once more on all the things I have or haven’t done since last time… Spoiler alert – things haven’t changed too much.
Author Journey (May 19, 2025)
What happened?
Only three out of the last fourteen days were Real-Life Family Event free… Which is only marginally worse that the two weeks before that. Despite that, I think I would be bold enough to say that somethings have been improving. I wrote more posts and even watched some anime. I haven’t read anything in three weeks though, so there’s room for improvement. Hahahaha! There’s room for a lot of improvement!
There’s another two weeks before I plan on returning to regular scheduled posts, and at the moment, that looks possible. I have a bit of work to get done to make sure that things run smoothly, and while I don’t want to miss another two weeks, I’m not going to completely rule that out. Hopefully, I won’t need it. As I mentioned last time, the views on this site continue to hold steady. I already knew that most posts don’t get that many views on the day they are posted. They might get more likes or comments, but it takes a while before the search engines start to push them.
I’ve also selected a handful of shows to cover that I think will be great additions to most views shows. Some are more recent, but I’ve also got a number of much older shows that should be a lot of fun to write about.

How is it going?
1. Health
Over the last two weeks, I saw a slight increase in my daily average. There were, however, some pretty unspectacular days, which means it could have been much higher. I just need to get better at squeezing in a treadmill session here and there. I’ve not seen much change to my sleep schedule, which is still all over the place. If I could just get a clear block of uninterrupted sleep, I think it would do wonders for my overall motivation.
Goal: 3,650 km (10 kmpd), Current status: 1,123 km (8.1 kmpd).
2. Writing
I’ve not had much time to even think about writing and I’m finding listening to podcasts isn’t helping right now. Admittely, I’ve spent the last ten years listening to every podcast about writing that I could get my hands on. I’ve heard every piece of advice out there and while things are always changing, they definitely seem to go in cycles. I’ve read so many books on the topic too that I don’t feel like I get much out of them (other than Robert McKee’s books which were full of wonderful ideas that I could implement). Anyhow, I’ve been listening to music while walking which is great for clearing my head, but not so great for go over the plot in my head. I need to find a couple of blocks of time that I can dedicate to writing, no matter what.
Goal: Publish a book, Current status: Working through the emotional beats and mental blocks.
3. Art
I have so little time for myself that I have to prioritse blog posts and writing. That doesn’t leave much, if any, time for drawing.
Goal: Complete artwork for my book, Current status: Desperate to draw!

4. Watching
I managed to watch three episodes of anime and that was on consecutive days, too. One thing that has been holding me back was that I watched a load of episodes and read some books without writing up the reviews. As a result, I didn’t want to watch or read anymore until I had written them, so that I didn’t lose my focus. Well, I am all caught up on my posts, so hopefully, the episodes and books should start to move again. I just need to make sure that I don’t push ahead of myself again.
Goal: Watch more than 629 episodes of anime, Current status: 26 episodes watched
Bonus: 8 episodes of TV, 3 movies
5. Reading
Zero books in two weeks is a big disappointment. Like I just said, hopefully, that’ll change now. I have a lot of books to get through, too!
Goal: Read more than 159 manga volumes, Current status: 46 volumes read
6. Blogging
Once more, I published just one post, although I did write nine posts, which means eight have been scheduled for the future. I even scheduled one for January 2026… I know. Crazy, but there is a method to my madness. I’ll let you know when it pays off.
Goal: Publish 365 posts, Current status: 86 posts

What are you planning?
While I managed to publish this post on time, I was left floudering for something to talk about. I did come up with the plan of making a note of anything interesting that happened so that I could talk about that. I also want to bring up the past and talk about my adventures in publishing from several years ago. At some point, I will start to do that. That might also give me a bit of a kick in the pants to get me writing again.
I’ve finished all of my posts for Cautious Hero and have a couple more to do for Monster Musume. Once those are done, I will start on the next show with the plan to watch and review the entire show before moving onto another. I have said in the past that I hate when an animation studio has to have a break from releasing episodes because they ran out of time, and it would appear that I am now guilty of that, too. So, I want get everything done and hopefully get to the point where I have two full sets of anime reviews lined up ready to go. Anyhow, I have lots to do and who knows how many Real-Life Family Events to contest with. I’ll be back in two weeks. Thanks for reading.

That’s a lot of RLFEs. I hope things calm down at some point!
Yeah. It’s pretty crazy. If I wasn’t taking time off work, I’m sure I would have been fired or completely lost my mind.
Wishing you the best! I hope you catch a break soon.
Thanks. I hope so too!
