What Happened to Ecchi Hunter?

For just over two years, I also blogged on the site EcchiHunter.com with my friend, Yomu. We had more than one thousand posts covering forty-seven different ecchi anime. It was a lot of fun and we were building up a good following. Things were looking great!

However, on August 28, 2021, the web host I use had a critical failure which resulted in all thirteen of their web servers going down. This corrupted and wiped a lot of the data. For two weeks, I trawled the internet, searching cached files and attempting to recover the posts. It was a painstaking task, but one that I’m glad I did.

Almost two weeks later, the web host had been able to recover about ninety percent of the data, but there were some corruptions. Initially, they didn’t think they would be able to get any of it as the backups were all stored in the same place… Anyhow, this site came back with minimal corruption and I was able to fix what I found. I also paid for a separate backup solution so that I won’t have to go through that again.

Unfortunately, Ecchi Hunter was not so lucky. The site came back, but the back end was so damaged that I was unable to even log in. Rather than keep a buggy version online that we would never be able to add to, I took it down. It wasn’t an easy decision but I think it was the correct one.

What Now?

Since then, we took a little bit of a break to focus on other things. We’ve always planned on getting Ecchi Hunter back online, but as of right now, there is no planned date. So, in the meanwhile, I decided that I would host all my old posts here. I’ve added more than half already and will get the others up soon.

I’ve also started covering more ecchi anime again with a weekly post on Sundays at 20:00 (EST). I’m currently covering The Fruit of Evolution: Before I Knew It, My Life Had It Made and will turn my attention to Mother of the Goddess’ Dormitory next. I also review a lot of non-ecchi anime so hopefully, you’ll find something else that might interest you too.

All my Ecchi Hunter posts use the Ecchi Hunter tag so they can be easily browsed together. Only the full season reviews appear in the main feed on the home page as I try to keep those safe for work. All of the episode reviews contain lots of fun highlights as per normal and should be considered Not Safe For Work.
