Author Journey (November 25, 2024)

And now begins a new era. It is the dawn of the House-Man-ager! I’ve got a list of things to do longer than anything I had with the day job, but I feel a little more relaxed despite the state the last guy left things in…

Favourite Moment!
There was only one unplanned Real-Life Family Event last week which was a welcome return to something resembling normal again. There were some planned ones too which wiped out my weekend, but I managed to get some work done. I also reached an agreement with work where I will be off work this week, back to work the following week for the reporting period, and then I’ll be off until the New Year when the next reporting period begins. After that, I’m not sure how it will go, but I’m going to make the most of things by whipping this house into shape. I’m going to make the Stepford Wives look thoroughly disorganised!
And, if I’ve learned anything from Chained Soldier and Mother of the Goddess’ Dormitory, I will be handsomely rewarded if I do a good job… Well, there will probably be fewer ecchi tropes in my real life, but I’m not giving up on the possibility. Anyhow, I’m ready to attack this new adventure with the vigour of a Shounen protagonist. Of course, that will be my focus this week and most of December. Last week, it was just nice to catch up on some things that I’d been unable to do. One thing that really picked me up was that I finally finished season two of Komi Can’t Communicate. I watched the final four episodes in my bed at night and they instantly lifted my mood. I need to make time to watch more anime – it makes me happy!

The Week That Was…
So, as I said, I finished season two of Komi Can’t Communicate and thoroughly enjoyed it. I also managed to squeeze in another two episodes of Why the hell are you here, Teacher!? which I also love. On top of that, I somehow made time to watch the 1988 OVA of Appleseed, which was part of my introduction to anime, back in the 1990s… Anyhow, it was nice to be back, even if I didn’t quite have time to run on the treadmill at all.
I also managed to read four manga volumes which is more than I had expected. One of them, I picked up just to read a couple of pages and ended up finishing it in no time. It’s surprising how often that seems to happen to me.
Writing and drawing are on hold at the moment, but once I get things settled with the house, I’ll be working in some time to do those regularly. It’s amazing how much pressure has been lifted by not having to keep up with the day job, even if that shouldn’t be that surprising. I’m basically on a stay-at-home working vacation… if that makes sense!

Aspirations for the week!
Over the last couple of weeks, since we decided that I would take some leave to get things at home organised, I’ve been making a list of things to get done. That list is incredibly large and will easily take more time than I have right now. That said, I’m feeling energised and ready to tackle all sorts of crazy things. And, on top of that, I’m determined to keep everything else going with this site. This first week will give me a good indication of just how much I can get done, plus if I’m doing things right, the to-do list should shrink and the regular maintenance will become more manageable. I’m starting with everything in a state of disarray after a long time of everyone pushing beyond their limits where the bare minimum has had to do. Also, I want to show that this is going to be best for the family going forward. It’s like being in a trial period, although I’m not that worried.
So, I’ve got lots to do but I’m not being pulled in as many directions as before. I think this will reduce stress and make it easier to get things under control. Anyhow, I’ve got a lot to get on with. So as always, thanks for reading!

Sounds like you’re getting a handle on things. Sounds great — hope it works out!
I’ve hardly stopped all day but I feels amazing to have knocked some things off my to-do list. I hope it works out too! Thanks
This is awesome to hear! I’m glad that you found some reprieve while still accomplishing what you set out to do. Many blessings in this new role of Man-ager. I loved that by the way LOL.
Thanks. My goal is to get the house organized and functioning efficiently so that the family can be relaxed and happy. It would be nice to have the weekends free to do fun things rather than desperately trying to catch up on laundry and chores.
It’s good to know you’re trying your best to get IRL things done, but do know to take some necessary rest since running the household is never easy.
Meanwhile, I think I gave up on RR’s Writathon Challenge even though I’m still determined to not miss my weekly promise of a published chapter. I was hoping to do two per week, but that’s a whole new level of goal since the plot points need to make more sense, and more interesting than I initially thought of.
I’m hoping that I’ll get my evenings back and we’ll be able to do things on the weekend without stressing about piles of laundry. Things have been too busy for a long time. Will have to wait and see if it works out as a long term thing or not.
Sounds similar to NaNoWriMo. It’s all good and well having daily goals that build towards a bigger until you miss one and then feel like you have to catch up. Best to just focus on what you can do today and not worry about anything else. Keep going! You can do it!
