Author Journey (April 17, 2023)

Last week was all about cleaning up the unfinished goals from the previous week. I even threw in a couple of new things to do, because, well, I’m starting to think I might be a masochist…
Author Journey (April 17, 2023)
It was another short week thanks to Easter Monday and I’m also in the middle of the reporting period in the day job. I knew all of this coming into the week so I kept things fairly light. There was still plenty for me to do as I had a number of unfinished tasks from the prior week that I wanted to finish. On top of that, there’s been a real shift in the seasons here. I think we might be on for a very short Spring as it’s already in the twenties (Celsius).
The Weekly Recap!
I gave myself the relatively easy task of watching three episodes of anime this week and you’ll be pleased to hear that I managed to complete it. Ironically, I had planned on watching three OVAs from shows that I had already written up reviews for, but then I discovered that one of the OVAs isn’t actually out yet… So, I picked up an episode from a series where I was waiting for the last two episodes to air. Now, I’m waiting for one…
I planned on reading four volumes of manga and I also managed that. It’s a great start to things. There was one volume one, which I really enjoyed, a volume two, three, and four. None of them was from the same series. You’ve got to wonder how I keep it all straight in my head bouncing around like this, but so far so good. I currently have seventy active series on the go.
Three anime episodes and four manga volumes brought in seven scheduled posts. I also had two episode reviews to do from the previous week and this post. Amazingly, I planned for exactly that outcome so it’s yet another win!
So, let’s talk about the outlining of volume six of my series. I’ve been dipping in and out for two weeks and I can now finally say that I’ve done it. It was a thoroughly enjoyable read and has given me lots to work on. I’ve actually changed a large part of the history of the series and a large part of that is brought up in this book, so there are a lot of changes to go in, but that’s exciting too.
And last but not least, I planned on working on the full cover image for RIP Tide and I did do a full cover sketch, however, it didn’t quite resonate with me. Amazingly, it’s still Kira’s face that’s been holding me back. Well, I think I’ve cracked it. Below are two versions I’ve worked on this week, however, one will turn into the other main character once I give her a new hairstyle.

| Tasks | Goal | Completed |
|---|---|---|
| Anime Watched | 3 Episodes | 3 Episodes |
| Manga Read | 4 Books | 4 Books |
| Posts Scheduled | 10 Post | 10 Posts |
| Chapters Written | 1 Book Outline | 1 Book Outline |
| Artwork Completed | 1 Cover Sketch | 6 Sketches |
Aspirations for the Week!
I’m expecting this week to be busy with regard to the day job so once more I will attempt to temper my expectations. Life in general has been really busy of late so I’d like nothing more than to just sit down and binge an entire season, but I don’t think I’m quite there yet. Best to keep it cautious for now. I can always do more if the time appears.
Watching Anime
I’ve got one more episode of a series that should air this week. After that, there are just a number of other shows, all with far more episodes than I can fit in this week. So, I’m going to aim for five total. That’ll knock a nice chunk of episodes of one of those shows.
Goal: 5 Episodes
Reading Manga
I have nine books from the library and more are on the way. I’m going to stick with four volumes so that I don’t fall behind.
Goal: 4 Books
Posts Scheduled
There will be five episode reviews and four book reviews. Then, there is a season review for the show that I’ll finish and the Author Journey for next week. Eleven seems manageable.
Goal: 11 Post
Chapters Written
This one is a little trickier. I’ve had the idea for the revised history of this story sitting in my head and it would work great as a book zero. It’s also something I need to get sorted before I push on with the story as things are starting to come together so the more I know now, the more it’ll fit together. So this week, I’ll outline book zero.
Goal: 1 Book Outline
Artwork Completed
I’ve been playing with digital art and while I’m a long way off from having anything to show you, it’s been promising. My goal is to pull together the elements for the cover. That’ll mean putting the new Kira head on a body and laying it all out.
Goal: 1 Cover Sketch

Final Thoughts
Well, I’m back to winning ways and it feels pretty good. I definitely ended up burning the candle at both ends so I’m pretty tired. Hopefully, the euphoria of completing my tasks will keep me going. I have been doing some thinking about the number of posts I’m putting out and whether it’s necessary and/or possible for the long term. In reality, I want to focus more on writing and artwork. I’ve got a handful of posts to finish for quarter two. Then, I’ll reduce the number a little in quarter three and then again in quarter four.
I am going to be changing the format of my episode reviews in quarter three too so that should be something to keep an eye out for. So far, I’ve written one post in that style and am happy that it allows me to say what I need to say without rambling. Anyhow, I have lots of exciting things to get on with, so thanks for reading.
