Chainsaw Man (Volume 6) – Boom Boom Boom

Reze asks Denji to run away with her, but he doesn’t want to. He feels like he’s making progress with his job. Reze kisses him as fireworks explode in the distance. Denji pulls away, the tip of his tongue still in Reze’s mouth!
Chainsaw Man (Volume 6) – Boom Boom Boom
What happened?
Denji is shocked as Reze shows him the part of his tongue she bit off. He reaches for his cord to start the chainsaws, but she cuts his hand off with a flash of a blade. She leans in and apologises. Then, she tells him she’s going to take his heart. That’s the moment that Beam emerges from beneath the ground, grabbing Denji and running off in a panic. He’s cursing himself for not realising sooner. All he can say is “bomb”!
Reze pulls a pin on her neck and explodes like a hand grenade. When the smoke and flesh have scattered, she emerges as the Bomb Devil. Using explosions, she shoots after Beam and Denji. Some other hunters show up and are easily defeated, but it gave Beam a chance to carry Denji off again. They made it to the Division Two training centre where Aki and the Angel Devil are helping with some training. Division Two tries to hold Reze off while Aki and the others flee, but she’s too powerful.
Having given Denji some blood, he recovers and races to confront Reze. He’s mad that every girl he’s ever met has wanted to kill him, although he almost falls for Reze’s charms once more. Luckily, the Violence Devil and Kobeni arrive for backup, but they quickly fall back. Reze is terrifyingly strong. The Typhoon Devil arrives to help Reze, but that doesn’t work so well when Denji rides Beam into battle. Eventually, Denji is able to tie Reze to him with his chains before they fall into the ocean. He’s hoping she can’t explode underwater.

What did you think?
Oh wow! This is currently my favourite arc in the entire series so far. There was so much to take in and that’s not including the insane fight between the Chainsaw Man and the Bomb Devil. It was explosive. Not only that, it was hilarious. Beam and the Angel Devil tried to convince Denji that he might be able to use his chains in a more creative manner. Maybe, he could fire them off and latch onto nearby buildings and then pull himself towards them at lightning speed. He decide that they meant he could ride on Beam in shark form, using his chain as the reigns… I laughed far too hard!
But wait, there was much more than explosive fights and outrageous antics. Beam clearly knew about the Chainsaw Devil and I don’t mean Pochita. He calls him Lord Chainsaw and seemed to have memories involving the Chainsaw Devil. Even the Angel Devil appeared to know something. Of course, it appeared that Makima is keeping Beam quiet. I’m starting to think that Makima might be a devil herself. The devils are born out of fear. I think she could be the Government Devil. She appears to be watching and listening to everything. She has the power to do so much and there appears to be no cost to her, which makes me think they’re not contracts.
Another theory I’m considering is that something massive has happened and time has been altered. That would explain why Beam has memories of Lord Chainsaw that don’t seem to include Denji. I get the sense that we’re building towards a revelation that will be almost unbelievable but at the same time the only possible solution. This series really is fascinating.
