Author Journey (July 29, 2024)
Greetings from Montenegro! That’s right, I’m in another country. And not just that, I’m sitting beside a pool, reading in the sun! Good times!!!
Author Journey (July 29, 2024)
Favourite Moment!
I know, this European tour is taking things to the extreme, but for this leg, it’s just me and the wife! The kids are with family so for the first time since they were born we’re actually on a grown-up vacation. We’re heading back to England later today so I’m making the most of the free time by lazing by the pool, swimming in the pool, and reading. It’s been a while since I’ve felt this relaxed. I’m not saying kids are stressful but they are, especially when you live far away from family.
Reading, Writing, Watching!
I finished reading volume one of the Mushoku Tensei light novels. Then I started volume two and have already finished that too! Finding time to just sit down and read is incredibly difficult which is why I tend to focus more on manga. Anyhow, it’s been a thoroughly enjoyable read even if the writing style is a bit all over the place. I’m also struggling with Rudeus’ actions in first-person. You get a little too close to what he’s thinking from time to time. I’ll most likely read the entire series but that’s down to the story and the worldbuilding. I did spot one paragraph in volume one that will become incredibly important given how the second season of the anime ended.
Also, when I finished watching season one part one, I declared myself a follower of Ghislaine. Little did I know that I was not alone. So, let’s give thanks for the protection of the Forest Goddess Laine! Why was the chapter that followed Ghislaine after the teleportation event not turned into an OVA?
Anime!
- Highschool of the Dead (Episode 7) – Dead Night and the Dead Ruck
- Highschool of the Dead (Episode 8) – The Dead Way Home
- Highschool of the Dead (Episode 9) – The Sword and the Dead
Manga!
- Asumi-chan is Interested in Lesbian Brothels! (Volume 2) – A Very Exploratory Search!
- Gigant (Volume 4) – The Battle for Tokyo!
- Goblin Slayer Side Story II: Dai Katana (Volume 2) – There’s Always Tomorrow!
Aspirations for the week!
The next time that I write one of these posts, I’ll be back in Canada. I will be back to work with the day job and all my personal projects. So, my main goal for this week is to make the most of that time with family and friends. I’m excited to get back and settle into my old routine, but not for another week. This has been an amazing vacation and it’s really allowed me to unwind, which is not something I get to do very often. Anyhow, I’ve got stuff to do. Thanks for reading.
Glad to hear the vacation is going well! I hope that trend continues!
Thanks. It’s going very well. I might need a break to recover from it though…
It’s good to hear you’re ending your European trip with great satisfaction. Still wishing you enjoy a safe time with family and friends there.
P.S. As for the message I sent to you on MAL, it’s best you don’t read the epilogue chapters from the LNs. I heard it’s kind of spoilery that today even fans still don’t understand why the author has to spoil future events in one swoop of that kind of chapter.
Thanks. It’s been a lot of fun. Iam looking forward to going home, but mostly for the familiar comforts of home.
I’ve been seeing things like that a lot. Not sure why some authors want to spoil the stories before you’ve even read them. My guess is that it’s down to marketing who makes these bizarre decisions. I’ve got 23 and a half volumes of Mushoku Tensei to read before I dive into any more series though…
Safe travels, my friend! 🌹
I hope your vacation is going well. How’s Montenegro?
Thanks. Montenegro was lovely. Would definitely visit again.
You’re welcome. Glad to know it went well. What were your favorite things about that country?
The scenery was incredible with the mountains and the sea. We didn’t do any touristy things as we were just on a weekend break and spent all our time relaxing by the pool. Next time, we would go explore more.
That’s great. It would be cool to see more of that country. Did you learn any Montenegrin over there?
Sadly no, but we did get a very quick review of the political affairs thanks to our driver to the airport. They certainly haven’t forgotten about the way things were in Yugoslavia.
Gotcha. I was just curious about that. Yeah, I’m not surprised about the Yugoslavia wars and history from what I know about that region.
