Author Journey (March 11, 2024)

The freedom that I have discovered as a result of not trying to review every single episode of anime that I watch has been revolutionary. Even when I lose a couple of days to real-life events, I’m able to keep pushing forward.

Favourite Moment!
I finished watching a season from the Fall 2023 schedule. That alone would have been impressive, but I also watched the first eight episodes on another of the Winter 2024 schedule. That means I have two more seasonal reviews that I’ll be able to do once the final episodes air. Before I would have looked at these shows and decided that doing episode reviews would boost my rankings in Google, and they would. The thing I realised is that I don’t need to rank highly in every show I review. It’s also unrealistic for me to keep on top of them when I have a busy family and work life too.
Ironically, all three of the shows that I’ve watched lately have been better than Bastard!! You live and learn! So, I’m going to continue to review three seasons episodically each season as I enjoy the discussions that come with them. Then, the rest of my anime schedule will be made up of season reviews and episodic reviews of shows that I love and know that there will be plenty to talk about – the shows that I would want to rank well on Google because they reflect me and my style. Anyhow, the point is that it was a busy week, but I managed to find time to keep pushing forward. I think that’s worth celebrating.

Writing!
My writing took a little step back this week because of my work commitments, however, I still managed 2,616 words so I’m still moving forward, just not as fast as the week before. This week will start with some more work commitments, and then, I’ll be able to dive back in and keep going. One problem that I’m facing now is that all my other unfinished projects have noticed that I’m writing again and they keep popping into my head to see when it’ll be their turn…
Anime!
It was another bumper week as I managed to watch twenty-two episodes, and none of those were six minutes in length. They were all full-length episodes. One thing that is contradictory to my need to write episode reviews is that I love to binge a show. I love the feeling of fully immersing myself in that world for twelve to twenty-six episodes. You don’t get that with episodic reviews because you’re always stopping to write the next post. My way around this is something I was doing five years ago. I would watch a show in blocks of three or four. They were like mini-binges and it meant that I could keep up with more shows all at once. Everything comes full circle!

Manga!
I managed to read three books this week, which is what I set as my weekly goal for the year, so no complaints… Well, obviously, I want to read more, but that’s not always going to be the case. There’s always the next week.

Manga Read | 3 Books | 3 Books |

Aspirations for the week!
I’ve already got a couple more shows lined up from the Winter 2024 schedule that I’d like to start watching. By the end of the season, I’ll be in a position to drop the season reviews after they’ve finished airing which will be nice. I haven’t quite worked out how that’ll fit into my posting schedule, but I’m sure I’ll be able to make it work. I need to get back to writing again. I lost two of my planned days last week and I think I’ll lose one this week. That leaves four sessions to get as many words as possible. I’m still a way off the time I was writing 15k words a week, but that should come as long as I keep going. And, if it doesn’t come straight away, I’ll still have more words than if I hadn’t done anything.
So, I think this post is not quite as energised as last week’s post, but that’s fine. Things are moving in the right direction. It’s also fun to see things I used to do back on my old website becoming relevant once more. Anyhow, thanks for reading.

Hope you have a productive week!
Thanks. I’ll do my best!
Two weeks in a row, isn’t it? That’s the start of a habit! Very cool!
Thanks. Now, I need to make it three weeks!
