That was one of those weeks that I can look back on and laugh. Laughing and crying… Those are the same things, right?
Author Journey (May 1, 2023)
So, Monday was a good day and then things quickly unravelled. My youngest child developed a cough that was too bad to go to school and not bad enough to make him want to rest. That killed any extra time I had and then Friday happened. Fucking Friday, if you’ll excuse my French!
The Weekly Recap!
I’d set myself some fairly reasonable goals after the previous week’s tomfoolery which was probably for the best. I had planned on watching four episodes and quickly got them out of the way. I was expecting to complete a series but then learned there were two more episodes.
I had also planned on reading four books to finish off another series. I did manage to finish it although Friday tried to kibosh my plans. Seriously, fucking Friday.
From that, I should have four episode reviews and four book reviews. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to do the last book review and hadn’t finished the season so no bonus season review. Instead of the ten I had planned, I only managed eight.
I didn’t do any plotting for book eight although I did think about it. Of course, then Friday happened and thinking about anything else suddenly became very difficult.
I did one sketch early in the week but that was it. It wasn’t a complete disaster when you look at the stats, but then the stats don’t feel any pain…

Aspirations for the Week!
This week, I will be setting zero goals and you can blame Friday for that. Absolutely nothing. If I watch, read, write, or draw anything it’ll be a bonus. So, you probably want to know what happened on Friday.
So, Friday. I had been suffering from a sore lower back for about a week. It was annoying but didn’t stop me from doing much. However, when I woke up on Friday morning, I couldn’t move. It was as if someone was firing a cattle prod into my left buttock every time I tried to sit up. Eventually, my wife had to call an ambulance. They managed to get me out of bed and into the ambulance but it was intense. I’ve played rugby most of my life and had some pretty bad injuries, but nothing like this.
After spending fourteen hours in the hospital, I got to go home with my herniated disc which is pressing against my sciatic nerve. Hence the cattle prod effect and the burning feeling down the back of my left leg. I’ve got some painkillers that make it possible to move now, but it’s still not easy.
And that is why I have no plans this week. I’m focusing on resting and recovering because this is not something I want to repeat anytime soon or ever. Anyhow, thanks for reading and look after yourself.
