Kingdom of Z (Volume 3) – Zombie Fists of Fury!

Masaru, Miki, and Karin saved a group of survivors from their tyrannical rulers, but it doesn’t end there. They’re aware of three other groups in the area that could be a threat. They need more muscle, but where will they find that?
Kingdom of Z (Volume 3) – Zombie Fists of Fury!
What happened?
They had returned to the school after saving the other group of survivors. Miki had put a new structure in place with the new leader reporting to her. It hadn’t been an easy win, but it was worth it in the end. They ended up with more people, but that meant more mouths to feed. However, the other group were based in a store so there was more food. It pretty much evened out in the end, but the real win was when they tested the zombies that they captured in the judo club. The zombified leader of the club was recaptured without a single scratch on him. The other judo zombies were all right, but some had experienced injuries. That meant that not all zombies were the same.
After Satou spectacularly fluffed his chance at getting a reward from Miki and Karin (what I time to get a nosebleed!) they continued with their plans for the future. Miki told them that they had classified the zombies into three categories. Rank-A was the strongest and were likely people with some sort of physical strength before they died. Martial artists and fighters were a good example. Zombies that were strong and in decent shape were in rank B while everything else was in rank C. They needed to round up some more rank-A zombies to bolster their defence, especially since they were now aware of three other groups
Luckily, there was a mixed martial arts tournament going on when the outbreak began. They were going to go to the arena and collect as many strong fighters as they could find. The main one they were hoping for was Takehi Gorou, an undefeated boxer turned martial artist. Given the number of people that would have been there, the chances of escaping a zombie outbreak seem slim. After arriving at the arena, they used the drones to lure the zombies outside. However, while doing that, they saw a little girl who told them to leave. They couldn’t just leave a little girl behind, especially since she appeared to have survived this long. What was her secret?

What did you think?
Poor Satou. He had his chance for glory and he blew it. As far as main protagonists go, he is the ultimate wet lettuce. It would have been nice for him to have had a little more agency, especially considering how dominant Miki is. Anyhow, this continues to be a lot of fun. I like how it’s taking a different approach to the zombie apocalypse. It’s kind of scary to think how powerful Miki could become if given enough time. I’m curious to see how they wrap this up as I think there are only six volumes in total. That doesn’t seem like enough for total domination, but we’ll see.
Ritsuka’s skill seems like it will be invaluable, especially as Miki was talking about how she needed someone to shepherd the zombies. It’s all good and well driving a truck full of them into the enemy’s territory but having a way to actually direct them would be incredible. It is a bit of a concern how ineffective the zombies have become as a scary monster in this series. That’s always been one of my pet peeves when the monster of the story goes from being terrifying to insignificant. Yes, Miki and Karin are strong, but that doesn’t feel like it’s enough. I want to see them actually fighting for their lives. It needs to up the stakes.
