What happened?
At first, it was awkward as both girls went over the possibilities in their heads. They were sat on the bed, no more than a couple of inches apart, but for that moment they could have been on different planets. Then, Nanao broke the silence, asking Asumi if they weren’t going to do anything! That snapped Asumi out of her thoughts. She turned to Nanao and kissed her. After a while, Nanao fell back onto the bed. Asumi leaned over her and asked if she wanted to do more. Of course, she did. They fumbled their way to getting undressed and working through various stages of intimacy. They started in the bedroom but made their way to the bathroom for a while before returning to finish things off where they started.
Asumi fell asleep first, leaving Nanao to consider the future. They couldn’t go back to how things were. It was only supposed to be one date. She understood that Asumi was searching for Mai and was not willing to give up on her. However, Nanao wanted more. Much more. And, she wasn’t ready to give up. Asumi woke up in the morning to find herself lying beside Nanao in the Love Hotel. It took her a second to gather herself, but she too found herself considering their future together. Then, Nanao woke up and told Asumi that she had been thinking about their relationship all night and amazingly the internet had the answer. She suggested that they become “friends with benefits”. They lived together which made things easier and Asumi would be free to keep searching for Mai. It seemed like there was nothing to lose!
After getting dressed and having to buy some new underwear from the Love Hotel, they went home. Once inside, Nanao suggested that they could relax. Just the two of them together, relaxing in Nanao’s room. Asumi was surprised that they weren’t wasting any time and after considering what best to wear, she ended up with a nighty that was easy to remove and the sexy underwear she bought at the Love Hotel. However, once in Nanao’s room, it became clear that Nanao had not meant anything by her invitation. Instead, she wanted to just hang out and watch a movie. It wasn’t until after the movie and Asumi went back to her room that Nanao did some more research on the internet to discover the actual meaning of “chill”. She ran to Asumi’s room to demand a do-over. Luckily, Asumi had already started without her…
Nanao and Asumi settled into a new routine for a couple of weeks as they fully explored the concept of “friends with benefits”, however, Asumi was keen to resume her search for Mai. She actually made a booking but hadn’t worked out how to tell Nanao. Surprisingly, once Asumi explained what she was doing, Nanao was perfectly fine with it. So, Asumi met up with another new girl, Chise. They actually bumped into each other in the street when Chise was searching for a key that she had dropped. It was the key to the handcuff attached to her wrist. Once they realised they were looking for each other, Chise offered to show Asumi the delights of S&M! Of course, she would start things off light which meant restraints and blindfolds. When Asumi got home, Nanao was excited to hear about her appointment and was equally keen to try some of it out herself!
What did you think?
The last volume ended with a huge cliffhanger and I read that back in June 2024, so I’ve had a while to prepare myself for what might happen and I was not disappointed. These books are usually split into four or five chapters and this volume dedicated the first two chapters to their night at the Love Hotel. I loved how different this felt from either of their encounters with the lesbian brothel. There was an air of excitement and nervousness that enhanced the emotions in every panel. I loved how awkward they were at first and then how quickly they got into it with Nanao really letting loose. She told Asumi that it was her first time, despite her meeting with Ena when she thought that Asumi was a call girl.
I do worry about their relationship going forward as Nanao is so heavily invested in it that I doubt she’ll be able to truly accept a “friends with benefits” relationship. This volume ended with Asumi’s friend Ouka inviting her away for a week. She didn’t reveal that it would be a week of debauchery at a lesbian brothel in another city until she was about to hang up the phone. Of course, we also learned that Mai has just gone to Tokyo to fill in for their other branch. Could they finally meet? I also loved that we saw Sayaka who was getting frustrated that Asumi had not made a booking in a couple of weeks. Asumi just seems to make an impression on everyone she meets. I wonder if Asumi will end up sleeping with Ouka, especially as Ouka hinted that she liked Asumi too.
