The Otaku Author Journey August 2020

August has been another interesting month. After the crazy antics of July, I slowed down and just focused on getting through unscathed. Well, I kept up with everything and even knocked off some tag posts!

Got any big announcements?

After I finished off my seasonal awards for Spring 2020, I decided to take a break from the Sunday Sevens post format and use the time to catch up on some tag posts. Now, I love getting tag posts for several reasons. They seem to get good levels of interaction, they’re often fun to write, and it’s like getting a free post. I’ve done three over the last three weeks and have some more to get through. Maybe, I’ll get to the point where I can create another new tag post. Something that isn’t as focused as the My Pirate Crew tag post.

How’s the writing going?

This month, I gave myself a break from the pressure of writing. I’ve been working from home since the middle of March and as I have two kids who have also been home, there really hasn’t been much time to really dedicate to luxuries like writing and sleep… We don’t have any family living nearby so it’s just been us, all day, every day! However, the schools are getting ready to reopen and even though it looks like it could be fairly stop-and-start, it will give us a bit of a break. So, I’m expecting to get this writing ship sailing again in the very near future.

Have you done anything interesting?

I should probably just change this section to my monthly Pokemon Go update. As of late, I’ve got into raiding and thanks to the ability to invite friends and remote raid passes, I have gathered quite a number of legendary Pokemon. I’m also closing in on level forty, although I believe that I have to get as much XP for the last two levels as I did for all the thirty-eight levels before that… so, maybe not so close.

They have just released the Mega-evolutions and so far, I’m not that impressed. They only mega-evolve for four hours and it’s a pain to collect enough of the Mega stones to make it worthwhile. I think I’ll just stick to collecting legendary Pokemon and powering them up permanently.

If you play Pokemon Go and would like another friend, I seem to have loads of gifts and can’t carry many more items. My trainer code is 8632 8817 2933.

What have you been watching?

I limited myself to covering just three shows this season and so far it’s not been that great. On one hand, there’s Deca-Dence which seems to flip-flop all over the place, but it does give me lots to talk about. Gibiate is slowly going from average to terrible and the descent doesn’t look like slowing. Of course, Fruits Basket continues to be the shining light, but that’s to be expected.

My A to Z Anime Challenge from my previous site is progressing nicely. It’s fun jumping back into them to grab some fresh screencaps and reread what I thought about them back then. Finally, there is one other show that I feel like I should talk about and that’s Gleipnir from last season. I started watching that in July and am covering it on EcchiHunter.com and so far it is fantastic.

Do you have any plans for next month?

Once more, I’d like to just keep things ticking over and hopefully find some time to start writing properly again. If the kids do end up going back to school, my daily routine is going to undergo a massive change.

One other thing. I finally got around to buying the first book in the Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash series, which is something I’d been meaning to do for quite some time. That’s sitting on my shelf calling me to come read it and once the kids are back at school, I think I will.

Anyhow, stay safe and thanks for reading.
