The Otaku Author Journey January 2 2023 a

Happy New Year! Now, get back to work… Well, by work I mean that thing that you’ve been putting off for too long. It’s a new year so you might as well make the most of it. You can do it!

Hot Topic

Not much to report here other than I’m still on vacation. I did go to London for a couple of nights. We went to the London Eye, which was fun, National History Museum, which we could have spent much longer at, the Tower of London, which was boring and the Royal Jewels were not worth the wait, and also London Zoo, which was good.

Now, we’re back with family just trying to take it easy. I definitely feel a little out of it without my routine or my laptop. That’s right, I’m writing this on my iPhone… That said, it has been a welcome break and should leave me desperate to get things going again once I’m home.

What have I been watching/reading?

I managed to watch the season finale of Chainsaw Man, although couldn’t convince anyone to watch it with me, which is understandable. I have started a new show and am more than halfway through. It’s been interesting as I’m noticing it’s far different to how I think it’s been portrayed around the web. That show is World’s End Harem and I’ll be sure to write more about it at a later date.

Work in Progress

As you might expect, I’ve done zero writing. I’ve been thinking about it a lot and am trying to get my schedule sorted ok in my head before I get home and put something more formal together. I can definitely see a mix of novels, novellas, and maybe even a web serial.

The Plan

I’ve seen some incredible growth over the last year and I’m keen to continue that trend. I could probably achieve that by just keeping on as I have been, but that would be boring. Later today you’ll see the first on my manga reviews. I have a lot scheduled and am excited to see how they do.

This post was the only one I’ve done in the last week, but that is why I have a buffer.

Writing

  • Out of Time (Time-travel Murder Mystery)
    • Chapters – 7
    • Words – 7,423
  • RIP Tide (Zombie Novella)
    • Chapters – 17
    • Words – 18,261
  • Swap Isekai (Isekai)
    • Chapters – 9
    • Words – 10,146
  • The Beach (Ecchi)
    • Chapters – 35
    • Words – 40,861

Nothing here, but excitied to get back to writing and I think mixing long and short will help.

Final Thoughts

It’s the New Year and I am itching to get started, although I still have another week off. That just means I’ll have to hit the ground running next week. I have lots of plans to put in place and things to act on. I’m not making any sweeping resolutions other than I’m going to work hard and play hard. Have you made any resolutions?

Anyhow, stay safe and thanks for reading.

  1. Wow, this post looks pretty good for being written on a phone! Hope you have lots of fun on your vacation! Oo, London! That sounds fun. Try not to push yourself too hard when you get back home, jet-lag can be really draining. Have a Happy New Year! I look forward to your future posts,

    • Thanks. I did a bit of prep work on the post before I left, so most of the things I did was typing and updating sections.

It’s been a lot of fun so far. Tiring but fun. I always find jet-lag is worse when you fly east. Going home shouldn’t be as bad… Hopefully!

I’m excited about the variety of posts I have coming up. It’s a crazy mix of genres.
