What happened?

Hinako, the smallest giant, and Ellis, her little sister had successfully defeated an ice dragon, which earned them a nice stash of gold. However, a Paladin had come to town to take on the same job. As a result, he missed out on the reward and was left even more disappointed after picking a fight with Hinako in the adventurer’s guild after talking bad about giants. Luckily, Ellis was on hand to get Hinako out of a jam, but their problems were far from over. While Ellis slept in a barn, Hinako went outside to get a drink. That was when one of the Paladin’s men jumped her.

After missing out on the reward for the ice dragon, he had decided to sell Hinako, an otherworlder, for a tidy profit. He had also arranged for a giant to pretend to be from Ellis’ clan in the hopes of taking her out as well. While that happened, he planned on raping Hinako, who was restrained… Of course, Ellis was not fooled for a second by the giant. She quickly killed him and then sent her weapon flying across the way to the barn where Hinako was trapped. Her blade, took off both of the Paladin’s hands, leaving Hinako with a relatively easy task of killing him.

Unfortunately, killing a Paladin and his men made them a target for the church. As such, they were leaving town to continue their search. Hinako was looking for her sister from back home who had died with her, while Ellis was looking for her brothers and sisters who abandoned her. Before leaving they stocked up on everything they would need. However, Hinako still had the same clothes that she had been wearing when she arrived in this world. Ellis convinced her to go get some new clothes made. While she waited outside, she told their pursuers to come out of hiding. The church had sent a High Wizard to mop up the Paladin’s mess.

What did you think?

This was excellent. The story starts with Hinako and Ellis already on their search for those who were once dear to them. If that doesn’t give you enough of hint, I’ll spell it out for you. This is a revenge story. Hinako was from a posh school and a fellow student had convinced her to form a bond of sisterhood with her. That came with certain benefits that Hinako wasn’t too sure about, however, she went through with it only for the other girl, Junko ditched her and belittled her. Having thrown all her beliefs away, Hinako ran into her, pushing her in front of a train. Both girls died. Hinako was transported to another world and she believes that Junko was too. Their feud is far from over!

Meanwhile, Ellis is an intelligent giant, although smaller than most. As such, she would get her clan into trouble, although she was only trying to ensure they weren’t deceived. Her family treated her poorly, and then pushed her off a cliff. That was where she met Hinako where they formed a new bond of sisterhood. Ellis is searching for her family, but I don’t think it’s so that she can make up with them. There was so many wonderful moments where we got to see how Hinako and Ellis work together, but there was one moment that made me commit to this story to the end.

When Ellis was attacked by the High Wizard from the church, she revealed something truly staggering. Ellis is covered from head to toe in magic runes. Given the size of her body, that makes her incredibly powerful. The High Wizard believed that she may even be a Demon Lord, but he didn’t get to think about it for too long. So, Ellis may be a Demon Lord and Hinako is definitely something sinister too. I’m really looking forward to seeing how this story develops. This has been a wonderfully start. Consider me hooked.
