Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls (OVA 1) – Everyday Life at the Pool
What happened?
Centorea, Mia, and Mero were hit the worst with the news that their measurements had increased and their weight had gone the same way. Of course, it’s hard to work out in Kimihito’s house and they can only leave the house with him, so it’s not like they can all go for a run or a walk together, not without attracting all sorts of unwanted attention. Luckily, Agent Smith has the answer. A new gym has opened for monster girls and if they take up a trial membership their is a cash reward. It sounds too good to be true. Before they leave, Kimihito decides to take everyone with him, rather than leave Lala, Papi, and Suu at home with Rachnera. Who knows what she would subject them too?

The gym is actually run by a monster girl, too. Polt, a kobolt is a keen exercise enthusiast and is delighted to have a group to test her gym. She quickly shows them around, making notes on things to change and new equipment to purchase. A treadmill big enough for a centaur is first on the list. As they go around they discover that Agent Smith’s MON team are already their working out. The more the merry, it would seem. Since there was no equipment that they could all use together, Polt took them through a yoga session which delivered some mixed results. Luckily, Polt had one more thing to show them – the pool!

The pool had been designed to accomodate all monster girls and there were even swimsuits designed for all body types. After having to listen to some unusual sounds coming from the girls’ lockerroom, Kimihito was relieved to see everyone get into the pool and start swimming. Of course, Mero was particularly spectacular. However, Mia didn’t want to be shown up and challenge Mero to a race where the winner could ask Kimihito to doing anything… He had no choice in the matter. Centorea was also in the race, but she wasn’t given much of a chance. It was a head to head and head to tail race, but ultimately, Mero and Mia both tired themselves out and discovered that Centorea had finished ages ago!

What did you think?
So, this was a fairly standard OVA scenario. The girls had gained some weight because of Kimihito’s cooking and their inability to exercise. I thought this was actually a very good idea and would be something that the monster girls would struggle with since they have to be accompanied by the host family while outside the home. And, since Kimihito has a house full of monster girls, it gets even harder for him to accomodate them all, especially as they would all have different needs. So, it might seem like a great way to get them into tight-fitting exercise clothes and swimwear, it actually made sense in the context of the world.

The new girl, Polt seemed like she was going to be a lot of fun, and for those who were really paying attention, she appeared in the regular season when we saw her jogging in the park. Anyhow, she facilitated the gym with zest and vigor, ensuring that all of the activities were fun and awkwardly revealing. I laughed so hard when Kimihito overheard Polt helping Manako who had a hair in her eye. It sounded a lot lewder than it was. In reality, there was nothing lewd about Polt licking Manako’s eyeball.

The swim race was excellent and I loved how it kept bouncing back and forth between Mero and Mia as they each attempted to out do one another. I knew Centorea was going to win, since that seemed like the most likely outcome as she was the one who would demand the least from Kimihito, and it appeared that all she wanted was for him to hold her hand. So, this OVA was great. I had a lot of fun and I loved that it felt like they put some thought into it too and didn’t just come up with some bonkers reason to get a little wild!
