Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls (Episode 2) – Everyday Life with a Harpy and Centaur

What happened?

After falling into a tree, Kimihito is remarkably calm with Papi, especially when he discovers that she doesn’t have a host family and would get into real trouble if she was seen alone. So, he takes her to get an ice cream. However, Harpys struggle to hold things with their hands and she dropped her ice cream. Luckily, Kimihito was willing to give her his popsicle. He even held it for her. Unfortunately, this act caught the attention of every passerby, especially with the sounds of pleasure coming from Papi. It certainly looked worse than it was. Anyhow, after getting all sticky from the popsicle, Papi undressed and jumped into the nearby fountain, pleased that the human world had baths all over the place. Kimihito tried to get her out of the fountain, but she grabbed him and pulled him in. That was when Mia finally caught up to them!

After the three of them managed to save a little girl who was stuck in a tree, a local policeman showed up and asked to see the papers for Papi and Mia. Of course, Kimihito had Mia’s papers but nothing for Papi. Amazingly, Agent Smith appeared out of nowhere and showed the officer the paperwork that stated Kimihito was the host. Had she planned this all along? It certainly seemed that way. After a sleepless night, Kimihito went to a shop to pick up some more food and was run over by a centaur. He called Agent Smith, but it was her day off so she wasn’t interested. Then, someone snatched a bag from a woman and raced away on a motorcycle. The centaur, Centorea was determined to catch the criminal, however, she couldn’t do it alone. Kimihito resigned himself to help and tried to climb onto her back. She was outraged, but it seemed like their only choice. After catching up with the criminal, Kimihito ended up throwing himself in front of Centorea as the criminal tried to slash her with her sword. She was instantly smitten. Looks like Kimihito now has three house guests!

What did you think?

This episode covered the remaining parts of the first volume and while I felt like Papi and Centorea could have had an entire episode each, I was actually fine with it working this way. The sooner we get to a position where things get crazier and crazier the better. Having the three of them fighting over him already sets the stage for a lot of fun, especially as Kimihito has already saved each of them and earned their admiration. I loved the way Agent Smith continues to be a pain in Kimihito’s side, especially when she was on her day off and it showed her lying in bed or doing her laundry in her underwear. Smith is my favourite in the series, and not just because of the chaos she causes.

There were considerably fewer exploding nosebleeds in this episode which was a nice change. In fact, the only one I noticed was from the criminal when he noticed Centorea’s boobs had burst out of her shirt in the side mirrors of his motorcycle, causing him to crash. That felt like a much better balance to things and given the number of times, Kimihito found himself in compromising positions not to have a single nosebleed was a big improvement. Anyhow, this was a fun episode with lots of chaos and the addition of Papi and Centorea. I’m looking forward to the next episode.

What was your highlight?

Agent Smith was hardly in this episode and yet, she continues to be my highlight. I loved how she showed up at the perfect time with all the official paperwork that said Kimihito was Papi’s host family. She had obviously planned on dropping her off at his house and this just made things easier for her. There was no way he was going to deny it and get her into trouble. Darling is far too nice of a guy to do that. Then, when Kimihito was run over by Centorea who was trying to enact the shoujo manga staple of running into your lover around a corner, and he had phoned Agent Smith for advice, she could have quickly given him a rundown on what not to do with a centaur, especially as they were a special case given that they were allowed to roam freely in the human world.

Of course, she didn’t and he ended up doing the one thing that she would have told him not to do, but who could have predicted that he would try to ride her? I’m starting to think she is an evil mastermind manipulating everything to her desires. I’m looking forward to even more entertainment as she drops by for coffee with all three of the girls there. She already got Mia’s blood boiling when she revealed that Papi was the same age as her when she took Kimihito into the bathroom with her. Just what is Agent Smith trying to do? And who is she really?
