Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls (Episode 6) – Everyday Life with Shedding and Egg Laying

What happened?

Mia rushed to her room, horrified that she kept making mistakes. Kimihito tried to reassure her and then he noticed a piece of skin on the floor. He asked if she was shedding. She was, but she didn’t want him to see her like that. For Lamia’s it’s worse than being seen naked! He explained that he had done some research on her situation and knew that it would get worse if she didn’t remove it all. It was also the reason she was struggling with the cooking, as stress can make things harder. Mia was amazed that he knew so much and reluctantly let him help her. They started on the back of her tail, ending at the tip, which is the most sensitive part. Then, she rolled over so he could do the front, however, she covered his eyes with her tail and asked him not to look. He tried to remove the rest by touch, which was oddly exciting for him too. Then, Mia, who was getting a little flustered, took her hands away for a moment, leaving a blindfolded Kimihito to put his hand in the worst possible place. He barely survived the shedding.

The next morning, Kimihito returned from the grocery store and found the girls all waiting for him. Everyone had something to say, however, it was Papi’s revelation that caused the biggest commotion. She revealed that she was about to lay an egg, which gave the other girls enough reason to batter Kimihito. However, it was an unfertilised egg, so they needn’t have got so worked up. Just then, the doorbell rang. It was a film director looking to make a documentary about the monster girls, and he seemed very excited about the possibility of documenting the egg laying. While they waited, he interviewed all of the other girls and asked each of them to show him their panties… Everyone was starting to get a little suspicious of this guy. Then, as Papi was laying the egg, Suu connected herself to the director’s head and revealed what he was thinking. He tried to escape with the camera, but Kimihito tossed him an egg and then punched him in the face as he tried to catch it. Of course, it wasn’t Papi’s egg, which was worth a lot of money, apparently.

Agent Smith, following up with Kimihito and the others, decided to stay for dinner. They were discussing what to do with Papi’s egg when Kimihito asked where she had put it. Papi said it was in the fridge… That’s when Mia revealed what they were having for dinner!

What did you think?

I loved this episode. The constant misunderstandings are fantastic, especially when they all assumed Kimihito had done something with Papi and promptly battered him, only to instantly dismiss it when they learned that Papi laid an egg every so often. I was a little surprised that they agreed to let that filmmaker come into their house when everything he said was a massive red flag. However, it was funny when he asked to see each of the girls’ panties. He reminded me of Brock from One Piece… Anyhow, I love how Kimihito continues to prove himself to the girls by being considerate and well-meaning. The fact that he read up about snakes so that he might understand Mia better was a nice move. I wonder if he’s done the same for the others.

I also loved the part where we were listening to the filmmaker’s internal dialogue as he went over the money he’d get for the egg and the film showing it being laid when Suu transferred it to her mouth and revealed all to the others. He was a massive scumbag and when he basically laughed at them, saying they couldn’t touch him because he’s a human and they are monsters, he showed how much of an opportunistic asshole he was. I try not to jump to violence in all situations, but that was a great moment from Kimihito. The accuracy of his punch was incredible, striking the egg and the guy’s face at the same time was awesome.

What was your highlight?

There was some nice world-building in this episode. The main idea behind this story is designed to put a regular guy in a situation where he is able to build a harem of monster girls in our world. It’s a fantasy scenario. However, that doesn’t mean it all needs to be warm and cuddly. In fact, expanding the world to reveal a darker side to things is a great idea as it enables the characters to overcome these things together and grow closer. The rule that monsters can’t attack humans is a key part of this situation. Does it work the other way around? We’ve only seen the robber attempt to slash Centorea with her sword, so we can’t take his actions as proof of anything.

The fact that there are people like the filmmaker who are taking advantage of the situation and attempting to get rich by exploiting the monster girls should come as no surprise. As long as there is an opportunity for someone to get rich, someone will step in to make that happen. I hate it, but that is the reality of the world we live in. Of course, the introduction of the scummy filmmaker sets things up for the next episode where we will get to finally see the stars of the ED, which is banging, by the way! I’m excited to get into the next episode, as always.
