Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls (Episode 7) – Everyday Life with MON and an Arachne

What happened?

A group of orcs have invaded a manga cafe and taken several humans hostage. Their demands included changing all protagonists of manga to orcs and also introducing a number of new titles that pair orcs with various other hot monster girls. Despite their ridiculous demands, the police can’t do anything to stop them because of the interspecies exchange laws. With nothing else to do, the police are forced to rely on Agent Smith and her team, MON. However, orcs have an incredible sense of smell, and one of the MON girls is discovered in the air vents. After filling her full of lead, they decide to tell the police off for breaking the laws. That was the opening they were counting on, giving another of the MON girls the chance to snipe all of their weapons from well outside their sense of smell. Then, another MON girl burst through the walls and knocked out most of the orcs. That left just one, and he had a girl hostage. However, she wasn’t the girl he thought she was – she was another MON girl. Then, the first girl who they filled with lead stood up and attacked, taking down the last orc. The MON team had cleaned up the entire mess without a single casualty.

That evening, Agent Smith just happened to be at Kimihito’s house to check on the girls when the report of the incident appeared on the television. Everyone was impressed to see Agent Smith and her team. Well, that was until Agent Smith revealed that she had invited them over for dinner. Good job, Kimihito had made enough food… Later on, Agent Smith was following up with the girls about the fake filmmaker whom they had tracked to a house. There was a monster girl there, but she managed to slip away. That was when they realised that Kimihito had vanished. Amazingly, he had been captured by the arachne who had tied up the filmmaker. She was curious to see what kind of a man would willingly destroy a valuable harpy egg. At first, she was a little disappointed, but then he complimented her legs. Then, when the MON team showed up and had them surrounded, Kimihito thought that they came to get him for punching the filmmaker and told Rachnera to flee.

After everything was cleared up, Agent Smith apologised to Rachnera about the poor placement she had arranged for her and revealed that she would find a better one. Rachnera had some ideas about the type of person she would like to live with. Those ideas severely limited the options, which seemed to work for both of them. Kimihito was getting another house guest!

What did you think?

This episode was possibly my favourite yet. I loved how they switched the OP and ED so that the episode started with the MON girls’ intro and then showed us the team at work. There was Doppel, a doppelganger who could change her appearance to match anyone else. Manako is a cyclops and the team’s sniper. Tionishia is an ogre who handles the heavy work. Then, there’s my favourite, Zombina, a zombie who can’t be killed and at one point shot through her own body to take down the orc leader. She’s also a little bit crazy. Anyhow, this team is amazing and I really hope we get to see more of them in action and not just mooching off Kimihito, which is also fine.

The order of events in the manga was slightly different, with the MON team’s introduction coming before the creepy filmmaker showed up. The third volume ended after Kimihito punched him, and he ran home to complain to Rachnera about it, which was the end of the last episode. So, this was the first time that I got to see Rachnera, and I have to say she was a lot of fun. She’s a little bit darker than the other girls in Kimihito’s house and will bring an interesting contrast in personalities. Everything from here on will be completely new for me, which is very exciting.

What was your highlight?

I’ve mentioned before how most of the girls want something different from Kimihito, which allows them to coexist without being boring or constantly fighting over him. They still fight, but it’s not as straightforward as two girls both wanting him to fall in love with them. So, when they introduced the MON team, I was delighted that they had added more girls without them needing to become part of the harem. The fact that they are attached to Agent Smith should make them that much more unpredictable, and that can only be a good thing.

Another thing that I am enjoying is how Kimihito isn’t the usual clueless harem protagonist who has no idea that any of the girls like him. It’s clear that Kimihito understands, and by agreeing to date them all individually before making a decision about marrying one of them, he’s shown that. That said, I absolutely love the way he often gets the situation a little wrong, which shows how considerate he is to the girl in question. He’s always ready to step up and accept his fate, while trying to ensure that the girls are all free to do what they want. It’s going to get a little harder now that Rachnera has moved in, but that should just increase the entertainment for us!
