How Not to Summon a Demon Lord (Volume 15) – The Heavenly Demon Lord Descends!
What happened?
First, however, Diablo needs to get past the paladin who hury Horn, and while it’s a new experience for him in this world, it ends up being nothing he can’t handle. The big surprise comes when the paladin refuses to tell them where Lumachina is in exchange for a healing potion. Instead, he summons a large cat and orders it to devour him. So, with no way of finding her quickly Diablo decided to act like a Demon Lord for a change. He flew into the sky and cast lightning magic. Once he had everyone’s attention, it told them that he was there to judge their sins!

Lumachina came forth and tried to explain the situation to Diablo, but he continued with his performance, telling her that he had been disappointed by their actions and that he was not prepared to ignore things any longer. He was hoping that she would say something profound to make him back down and win over the followers, but she accepted his judgement and explained to everyone that they would all be together in Heaven. Diablo wasn’t sure how to play that, but somehow managed to bluff his way out of killing everyone by claiming that he was testing them and was prepared to give them one more chance!

Meanwhile, the Council of Cardinals had escaped through the sewers. They had given up on the church, but had more than enough money to start another. That was until they ran in the Gewalt. They blamed him for not killing Lumachina, but were happy to have someone strong on their side. Unfortunately, he wasn’t on their side. Gewalt killed them all and was then met by a member of the Order of Palace Knights, whom he was joining. Before they went, Gewalt called out to Rem who had been hiding nearby. He gave her a key to a confession room that might have Lumachina’s friend in it and then left. No one would believe an adventurer!

What did you think?
Hold on a minute! What happened to the poorly animated raid boss that Vishos summoned in the anime? Part of my was hoping to see it handled with a much greater deal of care in the manga, but I’m actually fine with it also not happening at all, and as far as the story goes, this is a much more believable end to the arc while also opening things up for the future. It was nice to the cardinals get what they had coming and having Gewalt do it made perfect sense. Now, Diablo can continue to be the awkward good guy.

Following Lumachina’s return to the head of the church, she visited with Diablo who was surprisingly in the bath with Rem, and revealed that Shera’s father had died. That left her as the sole heir to the throne of Greenwood and without her, there was likely to be an internal war to decide who would rule. Shera was devastated by the news, but Diablo knew what they needed to do. However, Sylvie then showed up with more news that impacted Rem. They had got lots of information from Klem and knew of a way to get the Demon Lord’s soul out of her body, but they needed to visit the dark elves. Diablo was oen hundred percent behind this plan… for some reason or another…

Anyhow, we’ve now moved beyond the anime and are entering a brave new world full of busty dark elves and Rem rubbing Diablo’s horn with her tail. What a time to be alive! I joke, but this series has continued to be wildly entertaining. Diablo’s attempts to be normal continue to be hilarious and his inner dialogue just makes things even funnier. I was sad to see Horn leave to study magic, but Sylvie’s back so I can live with that. I wonder if they’ll add a dark elf to the party. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
