Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious (Episode 9) – This Reaper is Just Too Invincible

The third Heavenly King has destroyed the legendary armour and admits that he cannot defeat Seiya, which is why he is prepared to invoke a truly terrible summoning. One that Seiya may not even be able to defeat!
What happened?
Kilkapul is the third Heavenly King and has been waiting in village of Izale for Seiya to return. He killed all of the villagers, including his family, and sacrificed himself to invoke the greatest of summoning magic. They watch in horror as Krosde Thanatus, a reaper appears before them and attacks. Seiya tries to fight back but it is too powerful. He has Ristarte open a portal to the Divine Realm and forces them all through. Krosde Thanatus is able to follow them between dimension and soon meets the full force of the gods, but even they are no match for it. Seiya realises that there is one more option and leads Krosde Thanatus to the top of a tower where Valkyrie is painting a picture. A stray attack destroys Valkyrie’s painting and enrages the god enough to invoke her full powers to defeat it. Seiya then demands that Valkyrie trains him, even though she says that the skill would kill a mortal.

What was your favourite element?
I loved that Valkyrie came back into things. It was obvious that the last meeting wasn’t going to be the last and this one was pretty funny in its own right. Of course, the Goddess of Destruction likes to paint… It was also hilarious seeing Ristarte trying to step up her game and commit to helping Seiya. I’m not sure exactly what a doll made of her hair will accomplish, but Seiya seemed to want it. Valkyrie’s reaction to the hair doll was excellent as she told Ristarte that she wouldn’t be grabbing her boobs anymore because she was clearly in need of help!

What have you learnt?
I noticed that Seiya didn’t say that he was ‘Perfectly Prepared’ before heading back to Gaelbarde and I was a little disappointed that Ristarte commented on it. It would have been a great moment to flashback to at a later stage when things get dire! This showed a lack of faith in the viewer to notice something like that, which is annoying. It’s by no means a deal-breaker, but I like to think that you should give your readers/viewers the benefit of the doubt and if you need to confirm something later, do it then. I like the more subtle things, and Seiya not saying it was enough for me to think that something might go wrong. Ristarte’s narration at that point wasn’t necessary.
