How Not to Summon a Demon Lord (Episode 4) – Point-Blank War Dance

How Not To Summon A Demon Lord Title

Diablo is in the middle of a battle with Edelgard, the Fallen commander when news that one of the Fallen had got past Celestine’s barrier. He’s just got to defeat the army and make it back home before anything bad happens!

What did you watch?

I mentioned about how episode 3 was all set up and thanks to its double cliffhanger, episode 4 was all payoff and it was so worth the wait. There are still lots of little details that I’m only really paying attention to on the second viewing that is making it well worth my time to revisit How Not to Summon a Demon Lord, even beyond the sheer entertainment factor.

How Not To Summon A Demon Lord Episode 4 Diablo Taunting Edelgard

What happened?

The Fallen that made it into the city is apparently the strongest wizard in all of the man-eating forests and he appears to be able to back up those claims. Having trapped Rem and Celestine in an alley, they’re only hope of survival rests of Emile…

Diablo toys with, trying to force her to withdraw by allowing her to hit him with her strongest attack. When it does nothing, Shen is surprised but unwilling to concede. When word of the Fallen’s entrance to Diablo’s home reaches him, he decides to end it and get back to help.

How Not To Summon A Demon Lord Episode 4 Edelgard Attacked

What did you think?

I like a good cliffhanger although two cliffhangers in one episode may seem like a bit much. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case. It actually gave this episode a real lift in terms of pacing, making the whole thing fly by without a single dull moment. I also thought the way they’re showed that lives were lost and that life goes on was a great touch. It really hammered home the reality of the situation that Diablo finds himself in.

How Not To Summon A Demon Lord Episode 4 Funeral

What was your favourite moment?

At first, I was sure it was going to be the Edelgard fight, but it was actually when Diablo manage drama to teleport home and take care of the Fallen Wizard, relinquishing Emile from his heroic display. Seeing the reaction of others to Diablo’s power level is the best thing about overpowered characters. This episode was just a whole lot of awesomeness!

How Not To Summon A Demon Lord Episode 4 Gregore The Fallen Sorcerer

What was your least favourite moment?

I guess the downside of the double cliffhangers and the double payoff is that you don’t get to enjoy the moments quite as much. It was fine because there’s was a connection to the two events, but I would have like to see more of Edelgard. Either way, it was still a lot of fun.

How Not To Summon A Demon Lord Episode 4 Edelgard Defeated

Who was your favourite character?

It was Diablo again, by the then it had to be. He defeated two major foes and saved the girls and the city, all while maintaining his edgy Demon Lord persona. It’s almost like he can’t say anything wrong, other than in his head… Special shout out to Emile for standing up to the Fallen sorcerer even after taking some serious blows.

How Not To Summon A Demon Lord Episode 4 Diablo Angry

Who was your least favourite character?

Is Celestine using all her power to keep the barrier running, because that can be the only excuse for not standing up to the Fallen sorcerer? She’s supposed to be the head of the Mages Association yet we’ve not really seen her do too much in a magical capacity.

Would you like some more?

Of course. I have absolutely no regrets about re-watching this series, even though I’d only seen it last summer. There’s definitely something to be said for watching what you’ve enjoyed and trying to learn what made it work. I also love talking about these sort stuff of shows and doing the full episode reviews allows me to really get into the details.
