Diablo arrived just in time to stop the Demon Lord’s army from annihilating Laminitus’ army. He made quick work of the first attack and then turned his attention to Varakness and his harem, which seemed to really annoy Diablo.

What happened?
Shera and Rem helped the humans to fight back while Rose seemed to be quite happy to make mincemeat of any Fallen that got in her way. She was certainly living up to her programming as a Magimatic Maid. Not only was she cleaning up, but she was taking out the trash, too! Diablo drank a potion to recover his MP before turning his attention to Varakness, who was riding on the back of a giant tortoise with his harem, and he wasn’t shy about showing them off either. This seemed to infuriate Diablo who charged to face him, much to Laminitus’ surprise.
Varakness believed that he had the upperhand untilk Diablo unleashed a monstrous lightning attack that took out all of the small fry around them. Then, he turned the attacks of Varakness’ wives back on them, taking them out in seconds. Varakness was furious that Diablo would attack his wives, but Diablo failed to see an issue with it. They attacked him and were all too happy to kill humans. All is fair in love and war! Varakness unleashed his full power, given to him by the Demon Lord and attacked. However, his equipment was garbage and Diablo had the best of the best. It wasn’t even a contest. Once Varakness was defeated the remnents of the army turned and ran.
After the battle, there was a huge celebration for Diablo and his party, however, Horn slipped out, feeling unworthy of being included. Diablo found her, rescued her from her old party and told her to stay with them. Then, Laminitus attempted to seduce Diablo into workign for her, however, he was determined to see that Lumachina got home safely and was able to change the state of the church. Regardless, everyone from Zircon Tower left for Faltra City, knowing that the area would not be safe now that a Demon Lord was attempting to claim it.
What did you think?
I really enjoyed the battle between Diablo and Varakness and his wives, even if it was incredibly short. None of them put up much of a fight and it was all down to equipment. It would appear that the knowledge of status effects and equipment abilities is somewhat limited here, putting Diablo at a tremendous advantage. I love that he’s managed to power up his entire party and even done so in a way that makes sense. There’s no point giving Horn equipment that is overleveled or giving Shera equipment that is weaker than her current gear.
I wasn’t entirely sure why Diablo got so upset about Varakness fondling his wives boobs. Maybe it was because it was a battlefield and not taking it seriously offended him. Anyhow, I was amazed that Diablo resisited Laminitus. I’m not sure I would have been able to, even if she refers to herself as a plural. Thankfully, we haven’t seen the last of her as she’s now in Faltra City which will keep things interesting once they get back from the Royal Capital.
I loved it how Diablo almost gets into a fight everywhere he goes because he just can’t break away from the Demon Lord persona. This time, he was saved by Alicia who is there spying for him apparently. It also turns out that she is loaded and is more than happy to spend her money to keep Diablo’s party comfortable. I’m very curious how the next part will go because I remember getting quite frustrated in the anime with the underwhelming animation of the final boss fight. Will the manga do it better again?
