Misora Haebaru has been making a name for herself as a minor TV star and that got her into an idol group – Japan KGB! It’s run by a new agency, which might be a problem since one of the girls was poached from another agency!

What happened?
Misora has joined forces with Akira Hara, another gravure idol, and Beruko Yokuta, a competitive eating celebrity. In an attempt to get a bit of attention for her new group Japan KGB, Yuki Mizutani, the manager arranged for Akira to get into a compromising position with Misora and then leaked the pictures to the press. Misora is a little caught out by it all but goes with the flow since the group is doing surprisingly well. However, one of Misora’s managers warns her to be careful since Yuki was a part of another agency before she started Once Again. She also took Akira from her old agency so there could be bad blood!
Unfortunately, it doesn’t take long before Yuki is kidnapped by her old boss and sexually assaulted, with pictures being sent to all three members of Japan KGB, telling them to come to a certain location if they want to save her. They do and soon find themselves as the main attraction for a group of IOC officials visiting ahead of the Olympics. Akira is put on stage and forced to do sit-ups with a twist. Beruko is left to entertain the officials. However, they have something special planned for Misora. She will have to fight a disgraced Romanian sumo wrestler and win if she wants to protect her virginity.
The fight goes on and on with the Sumo throwing Misora around and taking all of her attacks with ease. She finally gets an opening but holds back at the last second as it would almost definitely result in him losing an eye. He didn’t return the favour and slammed her onto the ground. However, when he moved in to claim his prize, Misora got the opening she was after and paralyzed his eardrums and autonomic nerves. She won and they were allowed to leave. Before they did so, Misora punched Yuki’s old boss in the face for what he did.
What did you think?
Well, that was dark! This series covers some very sinister topics and can leave you a little taken aback. If any sort of aggressive sexual conduct is triggering to you, you might want to avoid this series entirely. I’ve read two volumes and it has steadily got more and more violent. The fact that after the IOC event, the girls just walked away and that was the end of it was pretty shocking, but that probably tells you more about the world that they live in. Even with photographic evidence of what was being done to Yuki, they couldn’t go to the police… or maybe, they didn’t think they could. Either way, that’s really sad.
On the flip side, the fight between Misora and Dorakuryuu was intense. It was as good as any fight I’ve seen drawn in a manga in terms of the flow. There were moments when Misora looked like she was going to get destroyed, but they kept showing us some of her training with her father. We got to see how that helped her to get out of that situation. She even let a surefire killer blow slip away because she didn’t want to blind him. Thankfully, she got a second chance, but you have to wonder if that softer side of her will cost her one day. I feel like she’s literally fighting for her life here. There’s no room for compassion.
Other than the fight with the sumo wrestler, we got to see the pressure getting to Misora, her helping a younger colleague to attend a Gravure shoot, and Misora struggling with an issue that she needed Akira’s help with. Something about too much testosterone. I’m sure you can figure it out!
