What happened?
When Misora heard that Victor Iba wanted to work with her again, she instantly shot down the idea. However, she was surprised to learn that he was making an action movie and not a porno. Even more surprising, he wanted her to be the leading lady and had already written the script where the main character was also called Misora. How could she refuse? Victor gathered the cast and crew together for a pre-filming get-together. Misora was oddly relieved that Sara Goujima was there too, along with an idol who was a Taekwondo expert… There are two of them!
Filming went as expected with Misora needing several takes to get her lines right, if she remembered them at all. It was frustrating for former child star, Koori Nene who was desperate to prove that she wasn’t washed up and difficult to work with. Of course, the action scenes went without a hitch, well, other than the final fight between Misora and Chae Yun-Hui. Back at the opening event, they had done a little sparring, and Chae managed to catch Misora with a feint. That put her off her game entirely. So, at a late-night spa, the girls had a mini showdown so that Misora could get over it.
Amazingly, the movie was well received with Misora being praised for the brutal realism of the action and Koori for her comeback performance. Victor Iba knew what he was doing and he played to their strengths. However, things never calm down in Misora’s world as her fellow Japan KGB member, Beruko Yokuta was challenged to an eating competition by Yamakita Muscle, a top bodybuilder. He was determined to turn these fads into proper sports and a showdown between two giants was bound to do that, especially if he won…
What did you think?
Have I been desensitized already? It’s possible, but it’s also possible that this volume was quite as dark as the other ones so far. Admittedly, Beruko stole the show when it came to the darker moments as we learned about her past and how she was so worried that she wouldn’t be an idol when she grew up that she developed an eating disorder that left her stomach enlarged and her intestines unable to effectively process food. That made her amazing at eating competitions and it stunted her growth, making her the eternal loli! As if that wasn’t enough, there were some claims that anal sex helps with eating competitions and rather than just getting a regular guy, they managed to find the nephew of the IOC Committee member who sponsors Beruko and he was a self-confessed loli-loving ass fetishist… basically, a degenerate (their words). The eating contest part was the weirdest part, to be honest.
Other than that, this volume focused most of its time on Victor Iba’s movie and it looked terrible. And, by terrible, I mean that I have to see this movie. If this series ever gets an anime… (lol), then, I hope they make the movie as a companion movie to the series. It won’t and they won’t, but it would be amazing. We also saw Misora pranked by a TV studio once more into taking pity on one of the aids, after she was tricked into thinking she knocked his teeth out when she hit him with her boobs. Misora then took things too far and realised that the Romanian sumo had been right about them being the same. She has some pent-up issues to deal with.
Also, I had to laugh that Misora was reassured by Sara Goujima’s presence! Whenever Sara is around bad things happen… And she doesn’t care one bit.
