Yuuna spent the last month of her life trying to find a way for Kogarashi to survive. She lived through thousands upon thousands of simulations and came to the conclusion that her existence was the problem.
Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs (Volume 24) – I’ll Be With You Forever…
What happened?
Ryuzen had shown Yuuna a world where she experienced love, but there came a point where it would end in the most tragic of manners. Ouga Makyouin would come to Yuragi-sou and no matter what she did, Kogarashi would be killed protecting her. That led her to enlist Nonko, saving her from an assassination attempt by Jonosuke. It had proven to be the point that stopped Makyouin from killing Kogarashi and allowed things to continue. However, all these extra people at Yuragi-sou meant that their relationship couldn’t advance as it had in the earlier simulations.
Then came the attack from Jonosuke that threatened to finally end Kogarashi. No matter what Yuuna did, she couldn’t come up with a perfect solution. There were chances that it would work, but predicting a fight is almost impossible with so many factors that could change the outcome. The only solution was for her to not exist. Then, everyone would be happy. Before she died, she told Ryuzen to erase her memories so that she wouldn’t be bound to Yuragi-sou as a spirit. However, Ryuzen couldn’t. She sealed away Yuuna’s memories, but it wasn’t enough. Yuuna became a spirit and was able to seal away everything else once she had saved Nonko.
Experiencing these memories once more, Yuuna woke from Ryuzen’s dream with all of her memories restored, giving her access to all of her powers. However, Kogarashi’s spirit body was set free by Jonosuke. It vanished, presumably passing on. Yuuna had to believe that he would find a way back, however, she had never seen this future. Sagiri woke from her dream and used her secret technique to create an opening for Yuuna to attack Jonosuke from inside. However, it closed up too quickly. Luckily, Oboro was able to give Yuuna God Speed which would get her inside. Once inside, she used a technique she had perfected solely for removing Jonosuke from Kogarashi’s body. His spirit body returned just in time to reclaim it, since Makyouin had sent him flying back to the real world.
They won! Kogarashi was back, however, now they faced another issue. Since Yuuna had recovered all of her memories, she knew it was only a matter of time before she passed on. She said her goodbyes to everyone and prepared to go. However, Kogarashi told her that he loved her. He wanted her to stay with him forever. That made Yuuna happy, but there was no stopping it now. Kogarashi leapt into the air and embraced her. Using his medium skills, he bound her to the Earth permanently. Now, they could be together forever!

What did you think?
Of course, it was going to be Yuuna. It makes sense and even as a fan of Chisaki, I can’t be mad about this outcome. The things Yuuna must have gone through as she tried to ensure that everyone was happy means that she deserves this outcome. I’m sad for Chisaki, Sagiri, Oboro, Hiogi, and Hibari. No one deserved to lose, but there could only be one winner. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading this series and am delighted to have the entire collection on my bookshelf. There were so many wonderful moments that I’m sure I will revisit them over and over again. I love the art style and can only thank Tadahiro Miura for taking me on this incredible adventure.
The volume ended with a series of images of all of the characters involved with a snippet about what had happened since the end. There’s a lot to be happy about and also moments of reflection and heartbreak. There had to be with a series like this. I first saw the anime back in 2019 and started collecting the manga in 2022. It’s been an amazing journey. There’s something special about a series as long as this where we’ve had time to get to know and fall in love with the characters. After the first volume, I would never have imagined some of the things they’d go through. I can’t praise this series enough. It’s instantly one of my favourites.
