Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs (Volume 13) – The Great Water War!
The Great Water War began with a torrent of swirling water. Hiougi was using all the tricks at her disposal to ensure that no one could challenge her. However, everyone else had the same idea. This was going to get messy!
Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs (Volume 13) – The Great Water War!
What happened?
Hiougi had the power of flight so she could stay high above the island away from danger. She could also use her abilities to pinpoint the location of all the other girls, and then, with her power to control the wind, she could shoot her Kogarashi-gun and direct the blast of water to the target. She was unstoppable and Oberon and Sagiri knew it, so they teamed up. Their plan would have worked too, had Hiougi been fighting alone. She actually had Chisaki and Koyuzu on her side too. Koyuzu turned Chisaki into Hiougi and created fake clothes with her leaf talismans. Oberon stripped the fake Hiougi but realised her error too late as the Hiougi blasted her and Sagiri with water. They were out. Meanwhile, Nonko was eliminated by Matora.
Hibari and Yumesaki hid in a tower overlooking the island, but things suddenly became very dangerous. Now that Hiougi had no more use for Chisaki and Koyuzu she turned on them, stripping Chisaki of her panties. Desperate to stop Hiougi from winning, Koyuzu made Chisaki a giant… a half-naked giant, but that also meant that Hiougi couldn’t muster up enough water to dissolve her top! Matora joined Hiougi but was soon countered when Yuuna joined Chisaki and Koyuzu. Hibari was taken out of the game by an errant blast of water and then, Koyuzu and Matora took each other out. Yumesaki tried to intervene with her succubus powers, but that went horribly wrong as everyone ended up knocking each other out. Surprisingly, there were still two girls left on the island.
Shion and Yaya took advantage of the situation to enjoy a beach vacation hidden by Nekogami. With the game pretty much over, Shion turned her Kogarashi-gun on herself and allowed Yaya to win. She received the love potion and used it to get Kogarashi to make her lots and lots of yummy fish. Surprisingly, everyone seemed to agree that it was the most amicable outcome imaginable… well, at least that’s what they said out loud! However, none of them had really given up. Sagiri put a number of steps in place to see if she had feelings for Kogarashi, but then learned that Urakata had just been teasing her. Hiougi’s failed attempts to ensnare Kogarashi made her followers cast a spell to make him unattractive to other women, however, that just made everyone think he was a woman, which caused some embarrassment when they realised.
What did you think?
The Great Water Gun War was incredible and I think would make an incredible movie to accompany the anime series. It had it all. There were collaborations, sacrifices, switches, Kogarashi-guns, disappearing bikinis, giants girls, succubi, and a couple of girls enjoying the beach. Seriously, it was incredible. From an action standpoint, it may be my favourite arc so far. Obviously, it didn’t have the same heartfelt moments as some of the other great arcs, but that’s not what this was about. This was just pure unadulterated fun, and I think we can probably all use a little more of that in our lives.
There were several other great arcs in this volume. It was nice to see Rui Harashima, Nonko’s editor, once more, especially as they finished Nonko’s latest book, with Kogarashi and Matora as her assistants and Yumesaki who was there for her input as a teacher. Of course, they all got drunk except Kogarashi and Matora, although something else happened to her. Rui’s boss contacted them and told her that they needed to tone down the spiciness of the book. Unfortunately, Kogarashi was the only one sober enough to understand. A drunken Yumesaki helped Kogarashi enter Nonko’s dream to tell her to wake up, but she would only do it if he let Yumesaki practice controlling her succubus powers there. I love this series. It’s absolutely aligned with my sense of humour.
