What happened?
Not long after Valentine’s Day is White Day, which is a chance for the guys out there to thank the girls who got them chocolates. For Kogarashi, that’s a lot of people, and given his culinary expertise, he’s been up all night preparing the ideal gifts for everyone. For Nakai, he made sweet bean Yokan and they blew her away. There was a selection of fish for Yaya and Boobie puddings for Koyuzu. He gave Oboro a book about manners for adults which she assumed was what she needed to finally bed him!
He made macaroons for Chisaki, which is just what her magazine said someone would get for the person who is special to them… Hiougi got a chocolate shaped like Kogarashi. She knew what that meant whether he meant it or not. He delivered healing cookies to Sagiri and Hibari which left them breathless. For Nonko, he prepared a jar of fermented octopus and squid with lemon. Everything slithered together… And, finally, he gave Yuuna a handmade blanket that was like a warm hug from Kogarashi. It’s safe to say that everyone was impressed.
It was the start of the new school year which meant there would be adorable kouhai for them to watch over… well, that’s how Hyoudou imagined things. And about that, Seri wanted Chisaki to help her with something. A girl was coming from her old middle school which is famous for its delinquents who was hoping to change her ways. Seri went through the same thing and hoped Chisaki could work her magic on Shion. She gave her some advice about clothes, but a chance meeting with Kogarashi really sealed the deal. When Shion learned that Chisaki secretly loved Kogarashi, she made it her mission to bring them together. Whatever it takes!
What did you think?
There were some absolutely wonderful moments in this volume that had me laughing so hard. The best thing is that you see them coming, you know what’s going to happen and that starts to prepare you. My absolute favourite one was when Koyuzu was visiting Chisaki and was practising her transformation skills so that she could integrate as a human adult. Part of this was copying Chisaki’s clothes. Unfortunately, she accidentally took a pair of real panties and left the leaf talisman copy behind. Even more unfortunate, that was the pair Chisaki wore to school the next day. Now, leaf talismans generally run out after a while. This one reverted back to the leaf form in the middle of class, leaving things a little breezy!
When Koyuzu worked out what happened, she had Nakai contact Chisato to let her know Koyuzu was coming to return her real underwear. On the way there, she dropped them in the river. Determined to fix her mistake, she took out another leaf talisman that would work until she washed the dirty pair. Unfortunately, the leaf talisman blew out of Koyuzu’s hands and landed on Kogarashi’s head, transforming him into a pair of panties… I think you can see where this is going. I love how brilliantly ridiculous this series is and how it’s able to take the same joke and make it funny over and over again by twisting it a little.
Of course, the cursed video game was also hilarious, especially the Holy Puff Puff Duo spell required to free Kogarashi from the cursed visions. And how did I get through this post without mentioning that their new homeroom teacher is half-succubus and can’t control her powers? Just amazing!
