Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs (Volume 7) – All You Have to Do is Come Get Him…
What happened?
Kogarashi and Yuuna met with a fortune teller who was the real deal. She had Laplace’s eye and used a Yokai to process the unimaginable amount of data that she acquired. Kogarashi was impressed. Yuuna wanted to know what their compatibility score was… oh, and something about her past would be good, too. Their score was 95% which pleased Yuuna. As to her past, Ryuuzen discovered that no one at Yuragi-sou had any knowledge of her before she became a ghost. They were able to match her spirit energy to an individual, but she was also a mystery. It was most likely Yuuna, but everyone around her was hidden from Laplace’s gaze.
For Christmas, they had a party at Yuragi-sou and everyone came. There was even a strange present delivered to the bathhouse which was added to the presents. They passed them around as the music played and then opened the one they were holding when it stopped. Koyuzu was the one to claim the mystery present which was a wish card to hang on the tree. Nakai realised who must have sent it but it was too late. Koyuzu had made a wish. The wish was on the tree. Poof! The wish became reality. The residents of Yuragi-sou, and Chisaki, found themselves in a whipped cream hot spring, and they were all naked, Kogarashi included!
On January 13, it was Kogarashi’s birthday, although he had forgotten. The girls decided to surprise him in the bath. Of course, they were all wearing their swimwear. The plan was to make sure he wasn’t lonely. As the only male resident, he bathed alone. However, a black feather fell from the sky and then a forceful wind ripped through the air, stripping all of the girls. Karurua Hiougi called down to Kogarashi from the sky, referring to him as Yatahagane. Before he could do anything, he was transformed into a wooden doll and carried away. Karura claimed he was her father’s mortal enemy, however, she had a different plan for him. She planned on marrying him and making him hers for all eternity!

What did you think?
I don’t think we’ve met the old landlady, but she may be one of my favourite characters. I love the way she randomly messes with everyone there and it’s always incredibly lewd, although this time Koyuzu has to take the blame for how lewd it was. Still, it was hilarious. There were some nice developments regarding Yuuna and her past, even if we didn’t get anything concrete other than the fact that she didn’t die at Yuragi-sou. Just who is Yuuna and what is her connection to Yuragi-sou? There was also a great little scene where Chisaki and Kogarashi were working together at the cake shop. We also learned that Kogarashi had been possessed by a pastry chef at one point in his life…
And then, we got the larger story that I had been asking for. Well, the beginning of it, anyhow. I’ll even let it slide that it appears to be almost a reversal of the larger one when Yuuna was kidnapped to be married. I did laugh when we saw Karura’s room, but I knew it was going to be something like that. It’s no coincidence that Kogarashi has been turned into a phallic-shaped wooden doll… It was also nice to see Yaya showing what she’s made of with her army of nekogamis. And finally, Hibari needs to work on her spirit synthetic barrier… Well, it looks great although might be a little too distracting! This series continues to be a lot of fun.
Also, there was some spectacular artwork in this volume to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the manga.
