Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs (Volume 15) – Who is the True Tenko Genryusai?!
Yuuna discovered that she was the Tenko Genryusai during her life and with that comes the power to defeat Ouga Makyouin, however, that doesn’t clear her of the accusation that she is Garandou! Someone must have some answers!
Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs (Volume 15) – Who is the True Tenko Genryusai?!
What happened?
Yuuna and Makyouin clashed in the Tenko’s alternate space and it was a furious battle. Surprisingly, it ended when Yuuna was able to disable Makyouin’s spirit armour and imprison her in a barrier. With her subdued, another person revealed themselves. He was Tenko Byakeui, the first Tenko and with him was Garandou. He set it on Yuuna, Makyouin, and the member of the Kuroe branch of the Tenko family who was helping Makyouin. They were to be sacrifices to restore Garandou’s power. As Garandou began to absorb their spirit energy, Byakeui told them how Yuuna was actually the seventh Genryusai he had created. They were clones of his human daughter whom he had sealed away as he attempted to make her immortal.
Yuuna was not the Gentryusai responsible for either of the Garadou’s and arguably, Byakeui was the one to take the blame. However, they were stuck and about to be consumed. Maybe, he was going to get away with it. That’s when Kogorashi broke into the Tenko’s alternate realm. He punched Garadou, freeing the girls and destroying the evil spirit. Byakeui tried to flee, however, the Demon Slayer Ninja corps had surrounded the place and erected a barrier to stop anyone from leaving. Makyouin shared her spirit armour with Kogorashi as they tried to defeat Byakeui. However, it was his real daughter, Mahoro who had become aware of his actions, that finally defeated him. She undid his immortality. They crumbled to dust together, leaving Kogarashi to keep watch over Yuuna.
Back at Yuragi-sou, everyone was keen to learn what Makyouin did to make Kogarashi fall in love with her. She was even more delighted to have something more to tease him about and quickly told him that she loved him too. However, it was more like family love. They spent a lot of time together and a strong connection between them inevitably grew. Regardless, Makyouin was now ready to pass on. She had seen that Garandou was defeated and knew that Kogarashi wouldn’t be alone anymore. But, would this really be the end for her?
What did you think?
And there it is. After fifteen volumes, we now know who Yuuna is. There are still some mysteries around her life such as what is holding her there (it’s probably Kogarashi), but we know that she was a clone of the Tenko Genryusai who resisted Garandou. I’m not sure whether this changes much, but she’s a little stronger now, and thanks to Koyuzu possessing Chisaki, Chisaki can now see Yuuna… and a whole bunch of other ghosts… Anyhow, things have changed for the better. It was a thrilling conclusion to this arc and it was also nice to get back to the usual goofy shenanigans too.
There are another nine volumes so it’s going to be interesting to see how the story develops further. Is there more to learn about Yuuna and Kogarashi or will the focus switch to some of the other girls? This volume ended with the news that Sagiri was leaving Yuragi-sou to marry a Yoinozaka. I can’t help but think that Nonko is going to have some strong opinions on this one. Either way, there’s still loads more to come and as I get closer to the end, I get more nervous about whether this series will finish things in a satisfactory manner. I’m sure it will, but I can’t help but worry. And, is it just me or is this hot spring getting a little crowded?
