What happened?
Yumesake was invited to Yuragi-sou for Halloween and was excited since it was her first Halloween party. Once everyone had gone to bed, she stayed up with Nonko and Matora, questioning whether it was all right for her students to see her dressed as a cat-girl. Of course, Nonko and Matora didn’t see a problem since they were dressed as a sexy nurse and a sexy maid! They even encouraged her to have a drink and unwind. What could possibly go wrong? Well… Once Yumesake’s inhibitions had been taken care of and Nonko and Matora had been charmed into a wrestling match, she wandered around Yuragi-sou looking for people. First, she came across Hyoudou who was looking for the bathroom. Then, she charmed Hiougi, Asaka, and Riri. However, she fell asleep waking for Kogarashi to wake up and ended up charming herself. She apologised in the morning, but no one seemed that bothered…
Soon after, it was Yuuna’s birthday and everyone decided to throw her a surprise party. They even got together to get her a special present. Well, it was up to Kogarashi to keep Yuuna occupied while the others got everything ready. They arrived back at Yuragi-sou too soon and Kogarashi promptly fell down the stairs in an attempt to keep Yuuna from finding out. However, they ran into Koyuzu at the bottom of the stairs who delightedly told them that she had the cake. Thankfully, Yuuna pretended not to see them and was suitably surprised when the party began. They got her a smartphone so she could keep in contact with everyone and take photos. Kogarashi even learned how to use the spirit filter so they could take actual pictures of Yuuna.
For a while now, Yumesake has been having the same dream over and over again. It involved Kogarashi coming into her empty classroom and seducing her. That obviously made things awkward at school, however, there’s a new trainee teacher and he’s noticed something about Yumesake. It turned out that he was an incubus and had the ability to turn off Yumesake’s powers. She accepted his offer but that made her feel off about Kogarashi. In fact, she was repulsed by him. Luckily, Koyuzu accidentally undid the hypnosis when she used her leaf talisman on her. However, that allowed Yumesake to confront the teacher who had been hypnotizing the students, removing the feelings of love so that they would all love him. Taking him on gave her the confidence to control her succubus powers… but not her drinking…
What did you think?
After several volumes that were largely dedicated to an ongoing narrative, it was nice to be able to relax again. This volume was full of delightful little stories. I loved the one where Yaya summoned a power cat spirit to get rid of a giant floating piece of silver vine that was driving all the cats crazy. The one where Oboro went on a date with Hibari was hilarious. I couldn’t believe how far that went and still managed to be touching. You have to admire Oboro’s commitment to ensuring that everyone is happy. Then, there was another cursed board game. This time it was Twister…strip Twister that could only end if all players had a body part on each colour. To win the game and set themselves free, Hibari had to sit on Kogarashi’s face while putting her right foot on red. I laughed so hard when she asked him if he minded, which he didn’t, he’s a guy!
It was nice that Yumesake got to take the lead in this volume as she’s not had nearly enough time. I’m also enjoying her team-up with Nonko and Matora. That’s a great combination. Of course, seeing Nonko just reminded me that there was the reveal a couple of volumes ago that she had been attacked by someone who looked like Yuuna, which was when her powers awakened. With only three volumes left, this should become an important part of the remaining story. I’m looking forward to seeing how that goes, but I’m also sad that I’m almost at the end. At least, I can always reread the series at some point in the future. It’s been a lot of fun and left me laughing out loud so many times.
