Marin has been working hard to save up for a camera, however, her stylists and the photographer have noticed something different about her. She’s put on weight! With the summer shoots coming up, Marin is desperate to get back to normal!

What happened?
When her stylists mentioned it, Marin thought that they were just being dramatic, but after her latest photo shoot, the photographer told her that she had put on weight. Marin didn’t understand how that happened. She hadn’t changed anything except to eat dinner at Wakana’s house and they always ate healthily. Marin ran home and checked by trying on her old cosplay costumes to see if they still fit. They were made for her size so if she had changed it would be noticeable. It was noticeable! Marin was upset and worried about how Wakana might react after putting all that effort into making her costumes. He didn’t mind in the slightest and offered to adjust them.
The big surprise came when Marin worked out where the extra calories were coming from. After eating dinner with Wakana and his grandpa, she walked home with a bag full of leftovers that Wakana had prepared for her breakfast. It looked so good that she decided she would eat it when she got home… It turned out that Marin was eating two dinners every day. She was on to the diet as quickly as possible. Thankfully, she got a notification about something she had ordered which cheered her up. It was a new camera and she wanted to try it out at the next cosplay convention, which was that coming weekend.
As it would happen, Wakana was already planning on going to that convention. He had contacted a cosplayer who made props with the cos board and was keen to meet up and learn what he could. Akira-san agreed to meet him there. Amane was going to be there too, and Marin was hoping to learn about her camera from Suzuka. While Marin met up with Suzuka and went to search for Amane, Wakana met Akira and both were surprised.
What did you think?
Firstly, let’s just get this out of the way. Marin isn’t fat, she’s merely put on a little weight that will impact the incredibly high standards that models have. I don’t think anyone is saying she’s fat. Not her stylists, not the photographer, and certainly not Shinichi Fukuda. What this does show is how easily things can get thrown off if we change our habits even a little. I liked that they didn’t make it as big a deal as they could have. It’s just something for Marin to deal with before the summer photoshoot. I do love how Wakana reacted and also that he’s now at the point where he can contact someone online and arrange to meet up. This is so far from the Wakana we met back in volume one. His development has been incredible.
There were little clues about Akira being a girl such as Wakana commenting how manly her text speech felt and how Suzuka mentioned her friend who was meeting with a girl who makes cosplay costumes…The confusion was clear and as someone with a name that is more common for the opposite gender, I totally get these situations. I live them regularly. Anyhow, it was a fun way to introduce Akira who is a complete knockout, by the way. Seriously, she is stunning. That makes her actions that much more interesting. She seems to lack confidence and is awkward even with Suzuka. I can’t wait to find out what’s going on there.
And finally, the volume ended with Marin contacting a mysterious cosplayer to join their cosplay group from the horror video game Coffin. We all know it’s Juju. Even Wakana knows it’s Juju. The question is whether she will accept or not… We all know the answer to that too!
